Neighborhood Games of Bacoli

A summer of challenges between the districts of Bacoli

The Neighborhood Games are the sporting and social event that brightens the summer in Bacoli, a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples overlooking the Phlegraean Fields. Promoted by the Municipality of Bacoli and organized by the Casa della Cultura Management Committee, the event revives an old local tradition that had been absent for nearly twenty years: friendly competition between teams from the city's various neighborhoods.

How it works

For two weeks, teenagers aged 13 and older are divided into teams representing Bacoli's districts. Each day is dedicated to a different discipline, alternating between sports, skill games, and logic puzzles, following a schedule that touches the most beautiful and iconic spots in the area. The goal is not just victory, but to strengthen the sense of neighborhood pride, showcase urban spaces, and foster socialization among the youth.

Sport, play, and conviviality

The program is intentionally diverse and multidisciplinary. Alongside classic sports like beach volleyball, soccer, and basketball, the event features canoeing on the waters of Miseno, a relay race in the Historic Center, and lighter, fun-filled activities like a trivia quiz, a Master Chef-style cooking challenge, and comedy games. All activities take place in the evening, when the heat subsides and the squares fill with spectators.

The Neighborhood Games are a key part of Bacoli's rich summer calendar, a land of ancient history nestled between Lake Fusaro, Miseno, and Baia. The competitions are held in various locations across the city, from Case Vecchie to Fusaro, and from the Historic Center to municipal sports fields, offering a chance to rediscover the area's most charming corners. It is a free, open, and participatory event that unites sport, play, and community in one of the most fascinating locations in Campania.
