The eco-friendly family Carnival in the historic gardens of Villa Tasca, Palermo
The Nature Superheroes Carnival is an event designed for children, held in Villa Tasca Park, the historic romantic garden located in the Mezzomonreale district of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. The initiative was born from an idea by Luisa and Giuseppe Tasca, owners of the estate, in collaboration with the Grandi Giardini Italiani (Great Italian Gardens) network, with a clear goal: to turn the most colorful festival of the year into an opportunity to teach children about environmental respect and the small gestures that nourish the planet rather than deplete it.
Villa Tasca is one of the most fascinating historic villas in Palermo: its 19th-century park, with its pond, artificial caves, ancient palms, and tree-lined avenues, has hosted illustrious guests over the years and is now one of the city's green lungs. During Carnival, the garden opens its paths to families, offering an exceptional setting for playing, dressing up, and discovering nature.
The program alternates fun with eco-themed workshops. Highlights include:
Instead of traditional confetti, children are given colorful seeds to toss: a symbolic gesture that captures the spirit of the entire event. There is also a refreshment area with dishes for the whole family.
The Nature Superheroes Carnival takes place over several weekends between late January and early March, on Saturdays and Sundays during the day, with the costume parade in the afternoon. Entry to the park is ticketed, with affordable daily passes, annual memberships, and free admission for young children. It is a chance to experience the Palermo Carnival in a different way, immersed in nature and dedicated to sustainability.
For the 2026 Carnival, Villa Tasca Park brought back and expanded the Nature Superheroes Carnival formula, spreading the event over several weekends from late January to March 1st. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00, the park welcomed families with face painting, bouncy castles, creative and environmental workshops, walks in the historic garden, and the unmissable 4:00 PM costume parade along the park's avenues.
The patron of the edition was journalist and reporter Stefania Petyx. The symbolic gesture of tossing colorful seeds instead of confetti was confirmed, along with the refreshment area offering dishes for all ages. Affordable daily tickets allowed access to the park, with free admission for the little ones.
Villa Tasca Park is located in the Mezzomonreale district of Palermo and can be reached by car (parking available in the area) or by public transport. From Falcone-Borsellino Airport in Punta Raisi, the city is about 40 minutes away.
Daily entry is ticketed (approximately โฌ6-7 depending on the day), with annual park memberships available; free entry for children up to 3 years old and for people with disabilities accompanied by a carer. It is recommended to check updated hours and rates before visiting.
