The national purebred dog exhibition at the Borgo d'Ale Exhibition Center, in the Vercelli area
Every spring, the town of Borgo d'Ale, a small center in the Province of Vercelli, Piedmont, becomes the reference point for North-West cynology for a day. The National Purebred Dog Zootechnical Evaluations, organized by the Gruppo Cinofilo Vercellese in collaboration with the local municipality, attract around 700 dogs from all over Italy and abroad to the Exhibition Center, accompanied by breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts.
This is an official event recognized by MASAF (Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry) through ENCI - the Italian National Cynology Association, of which the Gruppo Cinofilo Vercellese is a local delegation. Throughout the day, a jury of international experts evaluates dogs of breeds recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), awarding scores and qualifications valid for the dogs' show careers. Veterinarians from ENCI Servizi are also on-site for examinations and genetic disease testing, ensuring the health and proper selection of the breeds.
The event is not reserved for industry professionals: the public can enter for free and approach the world of cynology in a fun and educational way. In the afternoon, the Junior Handler Competition takes place, dedicated to young handlers divided into two age groups, alongside a cultural show focused on the proper coexistence between humans and animals, dog welfare, and safety best practices. The day concludes with the awards ceremony in the evocative Ring of Honor.
Born in 2023, the Borgo d'Ale event has grown edition after edition to become one of the most anticipated cynological appointments in Eastern Piedmont. The setting of the Exhibition Center, on Viale dei Gracchi, offers ample indoor and outdoor space for rings, exhibitors, and pet industry operators. For dog lovers and families, it is the ideal opportunity to discover dozens of different breeds, talk to expert breeders, and spend a Sunday celebrating our four-legged friends.
The 2026 edition, the fourth in a row, confirmed Borgo d'Ale as the Piedmontese capital of cynology for a Sunday. Organized by the Gruppo Cinofilo Vercellese in collaboration with the municipality and chaired by Maurizia Buscaglino, the event attracted around 700 specimens of breeds recognized by the FCI to the Exhibition Center.
In the morning, selections with the international jury and genetic tests by ENCI Servizi took place; in the afternoon, the Junior Handler Competition for young handlers and the cultural show with the awards ceremony in the Ring of Honor. Free admission for the public all day long.
Free admission for the public starting at 9:30 AM.
