Italian youth music stops in Potenza

The National Competition "School and Music – Mario Pilati" is an event that places the "Walter Gropius" State High School in Potenza at the center of Italian youth music. Dedicated to the Neapolitan composer Mario Pilati, the competition attracts young musicians from schools all over Italy to the Lucanian capital.

A competition divided into several sections

The competition is organized into various sections to ensure fair comparison: lower secondary schools (soloists and chamber music), music high schools, opera singing and modern singing, as well as private music schools. The categories are divided by year of study and age, in a process that values the talent of each participant.

The Grand Final Concert

The most anticipated moment is the Grand Final Concert, where the winners of the First Absolute Prize perform for the audience in the spaces of the Gropius High School: a showcase that rewards the commitment and passion of young musicians.

An educational project for the region

Organized by the Gropius High School with the Leoncavallo Musical Association, the competition is also an opportunity for growth for the musical scene of Potenza and Basilicata, awarding scholarships to the most deserving candidates and networking schools and teachers.
