About Natale Biccarese

Natale Biccarese transforms Biccari, a village in the Monti Dauni area of the Foggia province, into a charming holiday village filled with lights, music, and local flavors. Throughout December, the historic center comes alive with Christmas markets, concerts in the Mother Church, an artisanal chocolate festival, the Slow Food Earth Market, and a variety of activities designed for families and children. This widespread festival weaves together craftsmanship, Apulian traditions, and the culinary heritage of the Monti Dauni, all within the warmth of one of Puglia's most authentic villages.

Christmas in the heart of the Monti Dauni

Natale Biccarese is the festival that celebrates the holiday season in Biccari, a village in the Subappennino Dauno in the province of Foggia, in the heart of the Apulian hills. Throughout December, the town dresses up for the occasion: the streets of the historic center, dominated by the famous 23-meter-high Byzantine Tower, fill with festive lights, craft stalls, and the scents of traditional sweets and local products. It is a Christmas on a human scale, far from the crowds of large cities, where the entire community participates and welcomes visitors.

A widespread festival of music, markets, and flavors

The program features a calendar of events that unfolds over several weeks. Christmas markets enliven the weekends with stalls featuring local crafts and traditional Biccari products. The Mother Church hosts Christmas concerts, while the squares offer festivals dedicated to children, entertainment, bingo games, and moments of conviviality.

A major focus is placed on the food and wine of the Monti Dauni: the Slow Food Earth Market brings the region's finest products to town, while the artisanal chocolate festival turns Piazza Matteotti into a delicious stop for both adults and children.

An authentic village to discover

Visiting Biccari during Natale Biccarese also means discovering a village that has successfully enhanced its heritage over the years: the Byzantine Tower, the medieval historic center, the nearby Lake Pescara, and Monte Cornacchia, the highest peak in Puglia. The intimate and genuine atmosphere makes this festival one of the most evocative Christmas experiences in the Municipality of Biccari and the entire Monti Dauni area.

Who is it for?

  • Families and children, with entertainment, play areas, and bingo games;
  • Music lovers, with concerts in the Mother Church;
  • Foodies, with the Slow Food Earth Market and artisanal chocolate;
  • Travelers looking for authentic villages in inland Puglia.
