Markets, ice rink, elf village, and the living nativity scene 'Riccia è Betlemme'
Christmas in Riccia, in the province of Campobasso, is a widespread program that enlivens the village throughout the festive season, from the second half of December until Epiphany. The event is the result of collaboration between the Municipality of Riccia, the Pro Loco, and the association Riccia Creativa.
The heart of the events is Piazza Umberto I, where the Christmas craft markets are set up, the ice skating rink is open daily until Epiphany, and the Christmas Village, with jugglers, fire shows, giant soap bubbles, elves, and mascots for the delight of the little ones.
The most anticipated event is the living nativity scene "Riccia è Betlemme": on the days after Christmas, the medieval historic center transforms into a small Palestine, with sets, ancient crafts, and numerous figures recreating the Nativity and life of yesteryear. A suggestive journey through the village alleys, animated by spirituality and tradition.
The program also includes the Christmas concert in the Church of the SS. Annunziata, the municipal New Year's toast, and the Befana celebrations for children on January 6th.
For the 2026 holidays, Riccia is renewing its Christmas program, the result of collaboration between the Municipality, Pro Loco, and Riccia Creativa. The traditional events are expected: Christmas markets, ice skating rink in Piazza Umberto I, Christmas Village with elves and entertainment, and the living nativity scene "Riccia è Betlemme" in the medieval historic center.
The detailed 2026 calendar will be published by the Municipality of Riccia and the Pro Loco shortly before the holidays. Based on the established program, the following are expected:
The living nativity scene 'Riccia è Betlemme' in the medieval village is the highlight of Christmas in Riccia.

Christmas period, from mid/second half of December to January 6th.
