Three days of theatre, dance, music, and widespread arts in the village of Narni
For a long weekend in June, Narni — one of the most evocative villages in the province of Terni, in the heart of Umbria — transforms into a widespread stage. Narni Città Teatro is a multidisciplinary festival that brings a dense program of theatre, dance, music, contemporary circus, and visual arts to squares, deconsecrated churches, historic buildings, and alleys in the center, largely with free admission.
The festival is known for its fusion of performing and visual arts: alongside theatrical performances and concerts, a section dedicated to contemporary art animates unusual spaces such as the Ala Diruta, the San Domenico Auditorium, and the ancient city churches. Each edition revolves around a central theme that runs through all events, from readings at dawn to nighttime performances, from concerts to DJ sets, including meetings and conferences.
Authors and leading performers from the Italian scene have graced Narni's widespread stage over time — from Roberto Saviano to Nicola Piovani, from Alessandro Bergonzoni to Roberto Vecchioni — along with international companies and collectives. It is an event that has won over a loyal audience, capable of experiencing the village in a new way by following the shows from place to place.
Narni Città Teatro is not just a review of performances: it is an immersive experience that links culture and territory. Walking through the illuminated alleys of Narni in the evening, moving from a concert to a dance performance, from a video installation to a reading, is the best way to discover this corner of southern Umbria.
The 2026 edition of Narni Città Teatro takes place from June 14 to 16 and confirms the formula of the widespread festival: over one hundred artists in three days, featuring theatrical performances, dance, music, and visual arts animating the squares, churches, and palaces of Narni's historic center. Among the announced names are Roberto Vecchioni, Vinicio Marchioni, and Milena Mancini, choreographer Roberto Zappalà, performer Kate McIntosh, as well as Valter Malosti, Tindaro Granata, Paolo Valerio, and Nadia Baldi. The major innovation of this edition is Impresa Fest, promoted by Confapi Terni with the Young Entrepreneurs and ConfapiD Terni, a section investigating the connections between entrepreneurship and culture.
The detailed day-by-day program will be published by the organizers closer to the event. Over 100 artists are already announced, spread across three days of performances throughout the squares, churches, and palaces of the village.
