The cellar night across Terlano, Nalles, and Bolzano
Nacht der Keller, or Cellar Night, is one of the most beloved wine events in South Tyrol. Organized by the Südtiroler Weinstraße (South Tyrol Wine Road) association, the evening transforms wineries and estates into public meeting places: from late afternoon until midnight, winemakers and cellar masters welcome guests among the barrels, sharing their craft and pouring the region's finest wines.
The hallmark of Nacht der Keller is its traveling nature and biennial rotation: the editions alternate between the northern and southern stretches of the Wine Road, one of the oldest in Italy, which winds through the wine-growing municipalities between Bolzano and the Bassa Atesina. This way, each year, the spotlight shines on a different portion of the South Tyrolean wine district.
In 2026, the event covered the northern part of the Weinstraße, featuring the municipalities of Terlano (Terlan), Nalles (Nals), and Bolzano (Bozen), in the province of Bolzano. Terlano, nestled among the vineyards on the slopes of Monte San Genesio, is famous for its long-lived white wines and the tradition of the Cantina di Terlano, one of the most prestigious cooperative wineries in the region.
In the edition dedicated to the northern stretch, the municipality of Terlano saw the participation of landmark wineries such as the Cantina di Terlano (Kellerei Terlan), the Cantina di Andriano (Kellerei Andrian), the Sektkellerei Stocker with Weingut Leya, and Weingut Kornell. In total, fourteen wineries and estates opened their doors across twelve locations distributed between Terlano, Nalles, and Bolzano.
During the evening, visitors can participate in exclusive tastings and guided tours of the cellars, accompanied by food pairings and musical entertainment. Each winery manages its own program, featuring small concerts, readings, and culinary offerings that enrich the convivial atmosphere. A shuttle service connects the various participating wineries, allowing guests to move comfortably and safely from one estate to another.
Part of the Trentino-South Tyrol calendar, specifically in the autonomous province of Bolzano, Nacht der Keller is an ideal opportunity to discover South Tyrolean wine culture in an informal and festive setting. The biennial rotation ensures that the Terlano, Nalles, and Bolzano area returns to the spotlight every few years: those wishing to experience the evening among the cellars of Terlano can follow the official Südtiroler Weinstraße calendar to see when the event will return to this part of the Weinstraße.
