The premier festival of classical and contemporary theatre in the heart of the Nebrodi Mountains
The Mythos Troina Festival is one of the most original theatrical events in the Sicilian landscape. It takes place in Troina, an ancient village perched in the Nebrodi Mountains at over 1,100 meters above sea level, in the Province of Enna, in the geographical heart of Sicily. Created to bring ancient drama back into a suggestive natural setting, the festival offers classical Greek myths reinterpreted through contemporary dramaturgy, with a constant focus on civil themes and current events.
Under the artistic direction of actor Luigi Tabita, the festival has earned recognition from the Ministry of Culture and the patronage of INDA (National Institute of Ancient Drama), the body that organizes the famous classical performances at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse. Each edition is built around a unified theme and features numerous national premieres, entrusted to leading directors and performers of the Italian theatre scene.
The heart of the festival is the Anfiteatro della Radura, a striking open-air space immersed in the greenery of the Nebrodi, where the major evening events take place. The more intimate and experimental section, the Assoli (Solos), is held in the historic Torre Capitania, while the CineTeatro "A. Camilleri" houses the box office and various side events organized by the Municipality of Troina.
The 2026 edition runs from July 3 to August 8 and is dedicated to the great female figures of myth—from Penelope to Andromache, Helen to Polyxena, and Cassandra to Antigone—navigated through contemporary themes such as war, memory, identity, and resistance. The lineup features ten national premieres and performers of the caliber of Lunetta Savino, Leo Gullotta, Ester Pantano, and Federica De Benedittis.
Alongside the performances, the festival offers Mythoslab, a program of free workshops reserved for professional actors and led by established directors. It demonstrates how the Mythos Troina Festival is not just a series of shows, but a true cultural laboratory that weaves together classical memory, stage research, and civil commitment in one of the most fascinating villages of inland Sicily.
The 2026 edition of the Mythos Troina Festival focuses on the great female figures of myth, interpreted through the tensions of the present: war, memory, identity, and resistance. Ten national premieres will alternate between the Anfiteatro della Radura and, for the Assoli section, the Torre Capitania in Troina.
The festival kicks off on July 3 with "Chi ha paura del Minotauro? Voci di donne in tempo di guerra" (Who is afraid of the Minotaur? Women's voices in wartime), directed by Marco Carniti and starring Ester Pantano. This is followed by Euripides' "Helen" (July 10), "Si prova Antigone" produced by INDA (July 17), and "Il canto di Penelope" (Penelope's Song) with Lunetta Savino (July 24). The program continues with "Andromaca – il candore del cigno" (July 28-29), "Polissena dimenticata" with Federica De Benedittis (July 30-31), and "Sing Orpheus Sing" (August 1-2). The grand finale on August 8 features "Teiresías", directed by Fabio Grossi and starring Leo Gullotta.
The Mythoslab is confirmed, with two free workshops for professional actors led by directors Davide Sacco and Jared McNeill, dedicated to the themes of power and justice.
A total of ten national premieres, in addition to the free Mythoslab workshops.

Tickets and season passes can be purchased at the CineTeatro "A. Camilleri" box office (via San Domenico 11) and online. For information: +39 331 4675445. The box office is open Tuesday to Friday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Performances take place outdoors in the evening at altitude: we recommend bringing a warm layer, even in the height of summer. It is advisable to book tickets for the major performances well in advance.
