Evening brass band concerts at the Musikpavillon in Lappago
At an altitude of just over 1,400 meters, nestled among the meadows and forests of the Taufers and Ahrntal valley (Tauferer Ahrntal), the small hamlet of Lappago (Lappach)—part of the municipality of Selva dei Molini (Mühlwald) in the province of Bolzano—hosts the traditional Abendkonzerte every summer: the evening concerts of the Musikkapelle Lappach. It is one of those moments when the entire village comes together: band members, families, hikers, and guests gather around the Musikpavillon, the characteristic music kiosk in the heart of the village, for an evening of fine music under the stars.
In South Tyrol, a brass band (Musikkapelle) is much more than just a musical ensemble: it is a pillar of village identity, an association that passes down the tradition of Blasmusik—music for wind instruments and percussion—from generation to generation. The musicians perform in traditional costume (Tracht), and their repertoire ranges from marches and polkas to waltzes and more demanding concert pieces. The open-air evening concert in front of the pavilion is the quintessential summer event for these communities: informal, free, and deeply rooted in local life.
Lappago is a tiny, secluded hamlet, reached by traveling up the side valley of Selva dei Molini, about 14 km from the center of Molini di Tures (Mühlen). Those who arrive here find an untouched Alpine landscape, green meadows, farmsteads (Höfe), and a silence broken only by church bells and, on summer evenings, the band's music. Attending an Abendkonzert means experiencing the most genuine side of South Tyrol, that of small mountain communities where traditions are still part of everyday life.
The concerts are held at the Lappago Musikpavillon, in the heart of the hamlet, generally on two or more evenings between July and August. Admission is free. The event is organized by the Musikkapelle Lappach in collaboration with the Tourismusverein Ahrntal, the Ahrntal valley tourist board.
The Musikkapelle Lappach returns to the stage of the Lappago Musikpavillon with two evening concerts (Abendkonzerte) in the summer of 2026:
On both evenings, the band will offer a "summer musical evening with varied and engaging brass music in a convivial atmosphere": marches, polkas, waltzes, and concert pieces performed by musicians in traditional costume. Admission is free. The events take place in Lappago, a hamlet in the municipality of Selva dei Molini (Mühlwald), in the Taufers and Ahrntal valley.
Repertoire of brass music (Blasmusik): marches, polkas, waltzes, and concert pieces by the band. The detailed setlist for each evening will be announced by the Musikkapelle Lappach closer to the dates.
