About musiKultur Taufers

musiKultur Taufers is a vibrant concert season that brings Campo Tures (Sand in Taufers), in the Province of Bolzano, to life from May to December. Born around the magnificent organ of the parish church, the association hosts organ recitals, international choral events, orchestral evenings, and Advent concerts in the Taufers-Ahrntal valley. The program blends great sacred music, South Tyrolean tradition, and classical repertoire, held at the Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt, the Bürgersaal, and other local churches.

A musical season in the mountains of the Taufers Valley

The musiKultur Taufers festival is a cultural highlight that, every year from May to December, graces Campo Tures (known in German as Sand in Taufers), in the picturesque Taufers-Ahrntal valley, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. Organized by the cultural association of the same name, the season features a program ranging from sacred music to international choral repertoire, orchestral evenings, organ recitals, and Advent concerts.

The parish church organ, the heart of the festival

The association was founded around the prized organ of the Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt in Campo Tures: it was the rich, voluminous voice of this instrument that inspired the organizers to showcase it not only in liturgy but also in a concert setting open to the public. Since then, the festival has expanded to include choirs, orchestras, and ensembles from across South Tyrol (Südtirol) and abroad.

The 2026 Program

The 2026 season kicks off on May 16th with a concert celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Taufers Men's Choir (Männerchor Taufers) at the Bürgersaal, featuring the Familienmusik Pichler. From June 11th to 13th, the Pfarrkirche St. Johann and the Festpavillon will host the Internationales Chörefestival Sand - Ahrntal, the grand "Festival of a Thousand Choirs," culminating in the gala concert.

  • July 17th – Opening of the sculpture exhibition "Icons from Ukraine and South Tyrolean sacred objects in dialogue" (Post-Dependance)
  • August 19th – Organ recital by Marian Polin, award-winning professor at the Monteverdi Conservatory of Bolzano (Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt)
  • September 4th – Orchestral concert by the Ensemble Haar (Bavaria) at the Mehrzweckhalle in Lutago (Luttach)
  • September 13th – Choral concert by the Südtiroler Vokalensemble
  • December 20th – Alpine Advent concert with the Maschlmusig, the Lappago Men's Choir, and the Familienmusik Pichler

A South Tyrolean musical heritage

With its diverse programming, musiKultur Taufers enriches the cultural landscape of the Taufers-Ahrntal valley and serves as a landmark for lovers of classical, choral, and sacred music. The festival weaves together high-art repertoire and South Tyrolean musical tradition, offering residents and visitors the chance to experience masterpieces within the historic churches and community spaces of Campo Tures.
