The classical and choral concert season in Campo Tures, in the heart of the Taufers-Ahrntal valley
The musiKultur Taufers festival is a cultural highlight that, every year from May to December, graces Campo Tures (known in German as Sand in Taufers), in the picturesque Taufers-Ahrntal valley, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. Organized by the cultural association of the same name, the season features a program ranging from sacred music to international choral repertoire, orchestral evenings, organ recitals, and Advent concerts.
The association was founded around the prized organ of the Pfarrkirche Maria Himmelfahrt in Campo Tures: it was the rich, voluminous voice of this instrument that inspired the organizers to showcase it not only in liturgy but also in a concert setting open to the public. Since then, the festival has expanded to include choirs, orchestras, and ensembles from across South Tyrol (Südtirol) and abroad.
The 2026 season kicks off on May 16th with a concert celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Taufers Men's Choir (Männerchor Taufers) at the Bürgersaal, featuring the Familienmusik Pichler. From June 11th to 13th, the Pfarrkirche St. Johann and the Festpavillon will host the Internationales Chörefestival Sand - Ahrntal, the grand "Festival of a Thousand Choirs," culminating in the gala concert.
With its diverse programming, musiKultur Taufers enriches the cultural landscape of the Taufers-Ahrntal valley and serves as a landmark for lovers of classical, choral, and sacred music. The festival weaves together high-art repertoire and South Tyrolean musical tradition, offering residents and visitors the chance to experience masterpieces within the historic churches and community spaces of Campo Tures.
