Celebrating the maritime identity of Tortoreto Lido on the Lungomare Sirena
The Muretto Festival is a young yet deeply rooted summer event in Tortoreto Lido, a coastal district of the municipality of Tortoreto in the province of Teramo, in the heart of the Abruzzo Adriatic coast. The festival takes its name from the characteristic wall at the Rotonda Monti on the Lungomare Sirena, which has always been a gathering place for local residents and the fishermen of this seaside village.
The central theme of the event is the promotion of the maritime identity of the Tortoreto area. The clam, a symbol of local tradition, is the true star, alongside stories of the seafaring trade and its evolution over time. Around the wall, the spirit of a community rooted in the sea comes alive in an atmosphere of popular celebration open to both residents and tourists.
The food stalls offer the best of Abruzzo's sea and land culinary traditions:
The format combines the conviviality of a neighborhood fair with the quality of authentic local flavors, in a festive atmosphere that stretches along the promenade until late at night.
The evenings are enlivened by live music and DJ sets. In previous editions, the festival has also hosted cultural moments, such as a historical conference dedicated to the evolution of the Tortoreto seafaring industry. Admission is free, and the event is organized by the Associazione Il Muretto, a cultural and recreational association born right around the Rotonda Monti wall.
Following its debut in August 2024 and its consolidation in 2025, the Muretto Festival is now a permanent fixture in the rich summer calendar of Tortoreto, among the many initiatives promoted by local clubs and committees along the coast. It is an event that tells the story of the authentic Abruzzo—the land of seaside villages and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
The third edition of the Muretto Festival returns to Tortoreto Lido on July 24 and 25, 2026, confirmed in the official summer program presented by the Municipality of Tortoreto. As in previous years, the festival will be held at the Rotonda Monti on the Lungomare Sirena, featuring seafood and land-based food stalls—from clams to arrosticini—and live music evenings. The full program will be announced by the Associazione Il Muretto in the weeks preceding the event.
