About Multiscena

Multiscena is a long-standing theatre and music festival that lights up the historic hilltop village of Vinci, near Florence, every summer. Promoted by the Municipality of Vinci and organized by the Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro company, it features evening performances of narrative theatre, lecture-performances, and musical recitals, often inspired by the figure and genius of Leonardo da Vinci. The evocative setting of Piazza Guido Masi and various open-air spaces across the town provide the backdrop, with free admission until capacity is reached.

Multiscena, theatre under the stars in Vinci

Multiscena is one of the most beloved cultural highlights of the summer in Vinci, the town in the province of Florence world-renowned as the birthplace of Leonardo. The festival, promoted by the Municipality of Vinci and curated by the Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro company, brings narrative theatre, lecture-performances, music, and poetry to the stage, transforming the town's squares and public spaces into open-air venues. Hence the name: piรน scene (more scenes), more places, more languages.

A festival in the heart of Tuscany

The festival traditionally takes place in the upper village of Vinci, centered around Piazza Guido Masi, where performances come to life as dusk falls. In some editions, the format becomes itinerant, embracing the surrounding hamlets from the terrace of the Vitolini church to the Spicchio park, offering audiences diverse glimpses of the hills between the Empolese and Montalbano areas, in the heart of Tuscany.

Leonardo as a common thread

Many editions of Multiscena choose the figure of Leonardo da Vinci as their central theme: his genius, art, science, and studies on flight. This is no coincidence: the festival is part of the rich calendar of initiatives that Vinci dedicates each year to the memory of its most illustrious citizen, the Estate dell'Ingegno (Summer of Genius). The stage features a rotating cast of actors, storytellers, lecturers, and musicians capable of blending entertainment with culture.

A festival for everyone

A key strength of Multiscena is its free admission policy until capacity is reached: a perfect opportunity to experience high-quality open-air theatre in an intimate, family-friendly setting. In case of bad weather, performances are usually moved to the Teatro di Vinci. Now approaching its thirtieth year, the festival is a staple for the residents of Vinci and the many visitors who flock to the Tuscan village during the summer.

Multiscena โ€” edition 2026

Multiscena returns to Vinci on July 18 and 19, 2026, confirming its summer appointment with theatre and music in Leonardo's village. The festival, promoted by the Municipality of Vinci and organized by Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro, offers two evenings of open-air performances. The detailed program for this edition is currently being defined and will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.

Multiscena 2026

In 2026, Multiscena once again lights up the summer in Vinci, with two evenings scheduled for Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19. The festival, part of the Estate dell'Ingegno calendar promoted by the Municipality of Vinci, is once again curated by the Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro company.

As per tradition, performances are held in the upper village, with free admission until capacity is reached. At the time of the date announcement, the artistic program has not yet been made public.
