The great summer festival of Val Tramontina, in the Friulian Dolomites
The Mountain Festival in Tramonti di Sopra is one of the longest-running and most beloved summer events in Val Tramontina, in the province of Pordenone. Now in its fifty-fifth edition, it is organized by the local Pro Loco and takes place in the heart of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, in a landscape of valleys, streams, and peaks that is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is much more than a local festival: it is the celebration with which an entire mountain community celebrates its identity, its alpine traditions, and its conviviality.
The program spans several days and offers a wide variety of attractions. There is the artisan market, with local products and crafts, and there are the food stalls with the specialties of Val Tramontina. For families and children, the schedule is packed: puppet theatre, magic shows, alpaca walks, and outdoor activities. The evenings give way to concerts and spectacular fireworks that illuminate the mountains.
What makes the Mountain Festival special is the natural setting in which it takes place. Tramonti di Sopra is one of the gateways to the Friulian Dolomites, a land of trails, emerald pools like those of the Meduna stream, and unspoiled environments. The festival thus becomes an invitation to discover the most authentic Friulian mountains, far from mass tourism, where alpine traditions are still a living part of daily life.
The festival takes place at the Sala Polifunzionale and in the spaces of the village of Tramonti di Sopra, reachable by driving up the Val Tramontina from Meduno and Spilimbergo. The event is traditionally scheduled between the end of July and the beginning of August.
For 2026, the Mountain Festival returns to Tramonti di Sopra with its 57th edition, scheduled approximately from July 25 to August 2. The event confirms its spirit of widespread celebration, with an artisan market, typical Val Tramontina cuisine, family activities, and evenings of music and entertainment in the heart of the Friulian Dolomites.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the event. The established structure of the festival includes:
How to get there: Tramonti di Sopra (PN) is reached by car, driving up the Val Tramontina from Meduno; reference highway exits on the A28. Mountain roads.
Admission: free entry; paid consumption at the stalls.
Accommodation: accommodation facilities in Val Tramontina and in the Spilimbergo area.
