Montaldo Hamlet Festival

A village festival in the Acquese Monferrato

The Montaldo Hamlet Festival is the summer highlight that brings the small village of Montaldo to life—a hamlet of the municipality of Spigno Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria. We are in the Acquese Monferrato, where the Bormida Valley carves out hills covered in woods and vineyards: an authentic landscape, far from the beaten tourist paths, which preserves the genuine spirit of Piedmontese village festivals.

Organized by the Pro Loco Montaldo, the festival traditionally takes place on the first weekend of June and spans two days packed with activities: food stalls, live music, and a Sunday walk that winds through the surroundings of the Bormida dam.

Walking, dining, and music

The heart of the event is conviviality. The food stall serves traditional Piedmontese dishes throughout both days, while live music turns the evenings into a celebration for all ages. Sunday is dedicated to the "Two steps... around the dam... and surroundings" walk, an open-to-all stroll that allows participants to discover the most picturesque corners of the area, between the dam, the Bormida river, and the surrounding hills, before gathering together for a meal.
