About Montagne Nostre

Montagne Nostre is the winter festival that brings four evenings dedicated to the mountain world to Piasco, in the heart of the Varaita Valley, every January. Documentaries, lectures, book presentations, and film screenings explore the Cuneo Alps through nature, mountaineering, ecology, and local traditions. Organized by the Companìa Quat Pass of the Polisportiva Piaschese in collaboration with the Municipality and the Pro Loco, the event takes place at the Sala Polivalente with free admission, offering a highly anticipated appointment for enthusiasts and those curious about Alpine culture.

A festival that tells the story of the mountains

Montagne Nostre is the cultural festival that transforms Piasco, in the province of Cuneo, into a meeting point for Alpine enthusiasts every winter. Set in the evocative Varaita Valley, one of the Occitan valleys of Piedmont, the event offers four evenings of documentaries, lectures, book presentations, and film screenings, all tied together by the common thread of the mountains: their nature, history, people, and the environmental challenges they face.

Who organizes it

The festival is curated by the Companìa Quat Pass of the Polisportiva Piaschese, in collaboration with the Culture Commission of the Municipality of Piasco and the local Pro Loco. It is an event deeply rooted in the territory, born from the passion of a group of volunteers who build a program every year that combines scientific dissemination, travel storytelling, and the memory of valley traditions.

What to expect

  • Documentaries and docufilms on mountain life, mountaineering, and the Alpine environment;
  • Lectures with biologists, naturalists, and local experts;
  • Book presentations by authors who have made the mountains their central theme;
  • Film screenings dedicated to great movies about hiking and adventure;
  • Spaces for local sports associations and the youth of the valley.

An appointment for the community

Reaching its thirteenth edition in 2026, Montagne Nostre has become a winter tradition for Piasco and the entire Varaita Valley. The evenings, always with free admission, are held in the "Dott. Serra" Multipurpose Hall and attract a loyal audience of residents, hikers, and lovers of Alpine culture. The festival is also an opportunity for the membership drive of Piasco's associations and to discover the sporting initiatives that animate the territory throughout the year, from running races to mountain bike outings.

The context: the Varaita Valley

Piasco is the first town you encounter when going up the Varaita Valley from Saluzzo, a valley with a strong Occitan identity dominated by the mass of Monviso. This bond with the mountains explains the success of a festival that, more than just a simple calendar of events, is the community's way of telling its own story and looking at its Alpine roots.
