Two sunset concerts between Gabiano and Cantavenna in the UNESCO-listed Monferrato
The Monfrà Jazz Fest, one of the most evocative jazz festivals in Piedmont, brings its widespread music to the municipality of Gabiano in 2026. Located in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Monferrato, the festival is promoted by Le Muse Accademia Europea d'Arte under the artistic direction of Ima Ganora and Gigi Andreone. Now in its ninth year, the festival enlivens Casale Monferrato and a dozen local municipalities every summer, transforming squares, viewpoints, and historic villages into natural stages under the stars.
The 2026 edition, titled "Terre di Jazz: syncopated continents and off-course islands," portrays jazz as a borderless language capable of uniting roots, migrations, and new identities. The program features over thirty events and more than eighty artists, spread across numerous locations in ten Monferrato municipalities. The festival is divided into three blocks: the first in Casale Monferrato from June 21st to 28th, the Valcerrina session from August 13th to 16th, and the closing Wine & Spirits section on September 12th and 13th.
Gabiano participates in the festival with two events from the Valcerrina summer block, both free of charge and designed to guide the audience through a sunset experience that combines music with the discovery of the village:
Cantavenna, a hillside hamlet of Gabiano overlooking the Po River, and the center of Gabiano offer an intimate and panoramic setting, perfect for the Monfrà Jazz Fest's widespread format. The two concerts are accompanied by opportunities to explore the area and enjoy local food and wine hospitality, in the true spirit of Monferrato. It is a unique chance to experience the UNESCO Monferrato through the universal language of music, far from large stages and immersed in the Piedmontese landscape.
The Gabiano stops are part of the Valcerrina block (August 13-16, 2026) of the ninth edition of the Monfrà Jazz Fest, titled "Terre di Jazz: syncopated continents and off-course islands." Both concerts are free and take place at sunset, accompanied by moments of village exploration.
On August 14th, in Piazza Europa in Gabiano, the Knobil Trio brings their "Jazz Punk Glitter Chanson." On August 16th, at the San Luigi Belvedere in the hamlet of Cantavenna, trombonist Matteo Paggi performs his solo show "How Many Times I Saw the Moon," with a final toast offered by the "I Love Cantavenna" association.
Gabiano is located in the Casale Monferrato area, in the province of Alessandria, on the hills overlooking the Po River. It is easily reached by car from Casale Monferrato (about 25 minutes) and from the A26 motorway exits. The hamlet of Cantavenna, where the August 16th concert takes place, is a few kilometers from the center of Gabiano and is accessible by car.
Both concerts are scheduled for the late afternoon, at sunset. August 14th in Gabiano (Piazza Europa) and August 16th in Cantavenna (San Luigi Belvedere). We recommend arriving early to participate in the village exploration activities.
The two Monfrà Jazz Fest concerts in Gabiano and Cantavenna are free of charge and include local discovery activities and small hospitality moments. Full program and updates at www.monjazzfest.it.
We recommend combining the evening with a walk through the hills and vineyards of Monferrato and bringing something to sit on during the outdoor concert.
