A classical music festival showcasing young talent at the Auditorium della Trinità in Quargnento
The Monferrato Classic Festival (MCF) is one of the most established classical music events in the Monferrato area, returning each year to the town of Quargnento, in the province of Alessandria (Piedmont). Concerts are held at the SS. Trinità Auditorium, located in Piazza I Maggio—an intimate space in the heart of the town with ideal acoustics for chamber music.
The event is a collaboration between the Municipality of Quargnento and the Musica e Pensiero APS ETS association, under the artistic direction of pianist Sabrina Lanzi, who has led the festival since its inception. In 2026, the festival celebrates its tenth edition, a testament to a consolidated tradition that has made Monferrato a landmark for great music.
The core of the Monferrato Classic Festival is the promotion of young talent in classical music. Every Sunday, a new performer or ensemble takes the stage: pianists, soloists on strings and winds, duos, and chamber ensembles, often very young yet already decorated in national and international competitions. Programs span from Baroque and Classical repertoires to Romantic and 20th-century works, featuring composers such as Bach, Scarlatti, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, Debussy, and Rachmaninoff.
Quargnento is one of the locations visited by the festival, which travels throughout the year across various villages in the Monferrato and Alessandria regions, bringing classical music to small towns often far from major concert circuits. This widespread reach, combined with a focus on young performers, makes the Monferrato Classic Festival a precious experience for the local area and its UNESCO World Heritage wine landscape.
Concerts at the Monferrato Classic Festival in Quargnento are free to attend, designed to make classical music accessible to everyone. It is a perfect opportunity to spend a Sunday afternoon listening to great classical repertoire live while discovering one of the most charming towns in the province of Alessandria.
The tenth edition of the Monferrato Classic Festival returns to the SS. Trinità Auditorium in Quargnento (AL) with two Sunday events in April, both starting at 5:00 PM with free admission.
On Sunday, April 19, the stage is dedicated to two young pianists: Riccardo Bresciani, winner of the first prize at the 2024 Riccione Piano Competition, and Bianca Zambon, a student at the Accademia del Ridotto and winner of numerous competitions. On Sunday, April 26, the festival continues with Michele Pierattelli on violin and Christian Pastorino on piano. A program that highlights, as per tradition, the best emerging talents on the concert scene.
