Italian singer-songwriter music pays tribute to Enzo Jannacci in Castelletto Monferrato
The Monferr'Autore Festival has chosen Castelletto Monferrato, a small town in the province of Alessandria nestled in the heart of the Monferrato region, for one of the most anticipated events of its 2026 summer program: a tribute evening to Enzo Jannacci. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 9:00 PM, Piazza Vittorio Veneto will host a concert-show that retraces the extraordinary artistic history of the Milanese singer-songwriter, actor, and physicianโone of the most beloved and original figures in 20th-century Italian music.
The show is an original production by AccademiaMonferrato Musica&Danza, the association managing the festival's organization. Taking the stage in Castelletto Monferrato are five local musicians: Alfredo Borroni on vocals, Mirko Bracale on guitar, bass, and backing vocals, Gianni Robotti on alto sax and clarinet, Luca Naclerio on piano and backing vocals, and Upali Gunasekera on drums. Together, they bring back the poetic irony, melancholy, and raw Milanese spirit that made Jannacci an inimitable artist, from Vengo anch'io. No, tu no to El portava i scarp del tennis.
The tribute to Jannacci is one of the stops on the Monferr'Autore Festival, a traveling singer-songwriter showcase that spans from April to July across numerous towns in the province of Alessandria, within the Monferrato territory recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event, directed by journalist Enrico Deregibus, weaves together singer-songwriter music, rock, folk, as well as theater, cinema, comedy, and literature, with a program largely featuring free admission.
Castelletto Monferrato serves as one of the festival's key venues: in addition to the Jannacci tribute, the town hosted a concert by Elena Ledda on May 23, 2026, also in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Other guests of the edition include names such as Davide Van De Sfroos, Dente, Violante Placido, Banda Osiris, and Bruno Gambarotta, spread across the villages of Monferrato.
For those visiting Piedmont and the hills of Monferrato in summer, this evening is a chance to experience a lively village square filled with great Italian singer-songwriter music, in an intimate and free setting. The tribute to Enzo Jannacci combines memory, musical quality, and local identity, celebrating one of the smallest communities in the province of Alessandria through culture.
