Three evenings dedicated to mystery and noir in the cloister of Medicina
In the heart of the Bolognese plain, MigiNoir is the literary review that every June brings some of the most interesting voices of Italian mystery and noir novels to Medicina, a municipality in the province of Bologna in Emilia-Romagna. The festival takes place in the evocative cloister of the Palazzo Comunale, at Via Libertà 103, a secluded space that is perfectly suited for book presentations, author meetings, and evening readings under the stars.
MigiNoir's formula is simple and effective: three evening events, all at 9 PM and with free admission, spread throughout June. Each evening has its own theme — from young adult fiction to mysteries rooted in the Emilia-Romagna region — and focuses on the dialogue between writers and the public. In case of bad weather, the meetings move indoors, ensuring the program still takes place.
Emilia-Romagna is one of the cradles of contemporary Italian mystery fiction: some of the genre's most beloved names have passed through Bologna, and MigiNoir fits into this tradition by highlighting the connection between crime fiction and the places where it comes to life. It's no coincidence that one of the evenings is dedicated specifically to "Emilia-Romagnolo mystery" and the relationship between the author and their territory.
Promoted by the Municipality of Medicina and included in the Bologna Estate program, MigiNoir is an event designed for the community: free, accessible, and capable of drawing both passionate readers and families to the square. Recent editions have featured established writers and a section dedicated to younger audiences, confirming a festival that grows year by year while maintaining its intimate, small-town character.
The 2026 edition of MigiNoir confirms its formula of three free evenings in Medicina, with meetings always at 9 PM. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Medicina in collaboration with Il Mosaico Cooperativa and with the contribution of Morlini Macchine, as part of the Bologna Estate 2026 program.
The heart of the review is once again the cloister of the Palazzo Comunale, with one evening exceptionally hosted in Piazza Garibaldi to welcome the large audience expected for Carlo Lucarelli.
