About Rice Festival

In Merlengo, a hamlet of Ponzano Veneto, the Rice Festival celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2026. Ten days at the end of August in honour of the patron saint Bartholomew, during which a different restaurateur each evening offers their rice-based specialty, accompanied by grilled dishes, summer plates, beer, and wine. Between community mass, cultural meetings, photographic panels on fifty years of history, and many festive evenings, it is one of the most deeply rooted festivals in the Treviso area.

Fifty Years of Rice Festival

The Rice Festival of Merlengo, a hamlet of Ponzano Veneto in the province of Treviso, reaches its 50th edition in 2026. It is one of the most beloved and long-standing festivals in the Treviso area, ten days at the end of August in honour of the patron saint Saint Bartholomew, which enlivens the parish grounds of the hamlet.

A Different Risotto Every Evening

The formula that made the festival famous is simple and successful: a different restaurateur each evening offers their rice-based specialty, creating a sort of risotto showcase. Accompanying the first courses are grilled dishes, summer plates, beer, and wine served under the covered outdoor stand. A gastronomic offering that varies from night to night and keeps anticipation high.

Between Faith, Culture, and Memory

The festival is not just about food. The patron saint's Sunday includes community mass in the morning, lunch, and a cultural meeting in the church dedicated to the figure of Saint Bartholomew, with the contribution of historian Gian Domenico Mazzocato and choral performances. For the fiftieth anniversary, the festival grounds host photographic panels retracing half a century of history. Promoted by Collaborazione Ponzano, the festival is the result of the work of over a hundred volunteers and confirms itself as an identity-building event for the community of Merlengo and the entire municipality of Ponzano Veneto.
