There are village markets, and then there is the Mercatino di Ferragosto all'Alpe Sant'Anna, one of the most picturesque in the Aosta Valley due to the altitude at which it takes place: 2170 metres, above the village of Gressoney-La-Trinité, in the Monte Rosa area. Here, next to the chapel of Sant'Anna, stalls are set up among the high mountain pastures on August 15th.
Aosta Valley crafts and flavours
The market features creations by local artisans and a selection of regional agri-food products: an opportunity to discover Aosta Valley craftsmanship and bring home some local specialities. All immersed in a panorama stretching across the peaks of the Monte Rosa massif, with the small church of Sant'Anna completing the scene.
How to get there
Alpe Sant'Anna is easily reachable from Staffal, the valley floor of Gressoney-La-Trinité: you can go up comfortably with the Staffal–Sant'Anna cable car or, for those who like to walk, on foot in about an hour's walk. A day that combines the discovery of local crafts with the pleasure of a high-mountain walk, in the heart of the Walser community in the province of Aosta.

The 2026 edition of the Mercatino di Ferragosto all'Alpe Sant'Anna takes place on Saturday, August 15th, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, at an altitude of 2170 metres above Gressoney-La-Trinité.
Among the high mountain pastures, the stalls offer local crafts and regional agri-food products, with the Monte Rosa panorama and the chapel of Sant'Anna as a backdrop. Access is from Staffal via the Staffal–Sant'Anna cable car or on foot in about an hour. Free admission.
