Stalls and flavours along the path between two car-free villages
Il Gusto di una Passeggiata is now a classic event of the Valtournenche summer, uniting two small twin villages: Chamois and La Magdeleine. Along the path connecting the two villages, numerous stalls are set up for an entire day, creating a scattered market immersed in the pastures and landscapes of the Matterhorn.
Walking from one village to another, you'll encounter stalls of local artisans and producers, where you can buy handicrafts, food and wine specialities, and typical products from the Aosta Valley and Piedmont. Along the route, there are refreshment points and tastings to savour local products while you walk. For the little ones, there is entertainment throughout the day.
Chamois and La Magdeleine are known for their choice to drastically limit car traffic: Chamois, in particular, is only accessible by cable car or on foot and is considered one of the symbols of alpine slow tourism. This makes the event even more special: you walk in the silence of the mountains, between the two villages, far from the noise of cars.
Organised by the Chamois Tourist Office (Love Chamois) together with the municipal administration, Il Gusto di una Passeggiata attracts many visitors every year, thanks to its unique setting and convivial atmosphere. It's an authentic way to discover this tranquil corner of the Aosta Valley, amidst nature, flavours, and tradition.
On August 30, 2026, the path connecting Chamois and La Magdeleine will host a new edition of Il Gusto di una Passeggiata. For the entire day, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, the route will come alive with stalls from local artisans and producers, offering typical products and gastronomic specialities from the Aosta Valley. Refreshment points and entertainment for children are planned along the way, for a day that combines walking, shopping, and local flavours.
The complete list of exhibitors is usually published by the Chamois Tourist Office in the days preceding the event ([email protected], tel. +39 0166 47151).
La Magdeleine can be reached by car from Antey-Saint-André, in Valtournenche. Chamois, however, is only accessible on foot or via the cable car that departs from Buisson (a hamlet of Antey-Saint-André). From the village, take the path that connects the two villages, where the event takes place.
The event typically runs from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with free admission. Refreshment points are available along the route.
