About Mediterranean Trade Fair

The Mediterranean Trade Fair (Fiera Campionaria del Mediterraneo) is Palermo's historic exhibition event, held every spring at the large exhibition center on Via Anwar Sadat. Carrying on a tradition that dates back to 1946, it brings together hundreds of exhibitors from across Europe across over 70,000 square meters, featuring automobiles, boats, home and garden decor, shopping, gastronomy, crafts, and hobbies. Every evening, free shows, live music, radio broadcasts, and a large amusement park turn the fair into a popular destination for families and curious visitors alike.

Palermo's historic fair

The Mediterranean Trade Fair is one of the longest-running and most beloved exhibition events in the Sicilian capital. Established in 1946 as a showcase for commerce and production in Southern Italy, it has woven itself into the history of Palermo, becoming a landmark event for local residents and business operators across Sicily. To this day, it retains that dual identity as both a trade show and a grand popular festival that has secured its enduring success.

Where it takes place

The event is held at the Fiera del Mediterraneo Exhibition Center, located at Via Anwar Sadat 13, in the Fiera district of Palermo, within the metropolitan city of Sicily. The exhibition area spans over 70,000 square meters, including both indoor pavilions and outdoor spaces, capable of hosting hundreds of stands and thousands of visitors every day.

Exhibition sectors

The fair is a journey through the latest commercial trends. Key sectors include:

  • Automobiles with the latest offerings from dealerships;
  • Boats and nautical equipment, in a city with a natural affinity for the sea;
  • Home and garden decor, furniture, and domestic solutions;
  • Shopping and personal products;
  • Food and street food, featuring local and ethnic culinary specialties;
  • Arts, crafts, and hobbies, alongside volunteer associations and services.

Shows and entertainment

Beyond the exhibition area, the fair offers a rich calendar of free events. Every evening, stages set up in various areas host live music, while afternoon radio broadcasts, evening concerts, dance competitions, and the large amusement park make the visit an experience for the whole family. There is also no shortage of cabaret, workshops, and spaces dedicated to art.

A city landmark

With its mix of commerce, gastronomy, and entertainment, the Mediterranean Trade Fair remains one of the most popular events of the Palermitan spring, attracting families, young people, and visitors from across the province and beyond.
