A medieval historical re-enactment in the historic center of Caiazzo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Medievocando is a historical re-enactment that brings the historic center of Caiazzo, a small village in the Alto Casertano area of Campania, back to the atmosphere of the Middle Ages every summer. For an entire weekend, the alleys, squares, and ancient corners of the town are filled with ladies and knights, commoners and merchants, jesters and men-at-arms, in a grand living fresco that blends history, entertainment, and popular tradition.
The event is organized by the Medievocando Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Caiazzo, the Province of Caserta, and the Campania Region, and has also received support from the Italian Touring Club over the years. The goal is to highlight the medieval roots of the Caiazzo area, a village of ancient origins perched on the hills overlooking the Volturno valley, by restoring the memory of a distant era to citizens and visitors through the faithful reconstruction of settings, costumes, and crafts.
The beating heart of Medievocando is the medieval market with its artisan workshops set up along the streets of the historic center. Here, performers demonstrate ancient crafts, stalls offer local products and handicrafts, while games and activities engage both adults and children in a journey that takes the public back in time.
As evening falls, Medievocando lights up the historic center of Caiazzo with flag-waver displays, flag-throwing games, fencing shows, and surprising fire performances, offering the audience a highly evocative finale. Each edition features a different central theme, linking the re-enactment to the history and current events of the territory.
Thanks to free admission and its setting among the village alleys, Medievocando is an event designed for all ages, ideal for an evening stroll through the historic center of Caiazzo amidst re-enactments, gastronomy, and entertainment. It is a perfect opportunity to discover one of the most characteristic villages in the province of Caserta and its medieval traditions.
Medievocando is expected to return to animate the historic center of Caiazzo, in the province of Caserta, with a new edition of its medieval historical re-enactment. At this time, the Medievocando Cultural Association has not yet announced the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition.
Following in the footsteps of previous editions, a medieval market and workshops among the village alleys, a historical pageant in costume, stage combat shows, medieval games, flag-waver performances, and evening fire shows are expected. This page will be updated with times, guests, and details as soon as they become available.
