About Medievocando

Medievocando is a medieval historical re-enactment that transforms the historic center of Caiazzo, in the province of Caserta, into a medieval village every summer. Featuring a period market, artisan workshops, historical pageants, stage combat, medieval games, flag-wavers, and fire shows, the Medievocando Cultural Association brings the sounds, flavors, and crafts of yesteryear to life for a weekend, reconnecting the local community with its past in a charming, family-friendly atmosphere.

A journey into the Middle Ages in the heart of Caiazzo

Medievocando is a historical re-enactment that brings the historic center of Caiazzo, a small village in the Alto Casertano area of Campania, back to the atmosphere of the Middle Ages every summer. For an entire weekend, the alleys, squares, and ancient corners of the town are filled with ladies and knights, commoners and merchants, jesters and men-at-arms, in a grand living fresco that blends history, entertainment, and popular tradition.

A village reliving its past

The event is organized by the Medievocando Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Caiazzo, the Province of Caserta, and the Campania Region, and has also received support from the Italian Touring Club over the years. The goal is to highlight the medieval roots of the Caiazzo area, a village of ancient origins perched on the hills overlooking the Volturno valley, by restoring the memory of a distant era to citizens and visitors through the faithful reconstruction of settings, costumes, and crafts.

Market, workshops, and period crafts

The beating heart of Medievocando is the medieval market with its artisan workshops set up along the streets of the historic center. Here, performers demonstrate ancient crafts, stalls offer local products and handicrafts, while games and activities engage both adults and children in a journey that takes the public back in time.

  • Historical pageant in costume through the village streets
  • Stage combat and duels between men-at-arms
  • Medieval games and family entertainment
  • Flag-wavers and trumpeters hosted from other Campanian traditions
  • Fire shows and evening performances

Evening shows and atmosphere

As evening falls, Medievocando lights up the historic center of Caiazzo with flag-waver displays, flag-throwing games, fencing shows, and surprising fire performances, offering the audience a highly evocative finale. Each edition features a different central theme, linking the re-enactment to the history and current events of the territory.

An event for the whole family

Thanks to free admission and its setting among the village alleys, Medievocando is an event designed for all ages, ideal for an evening stroll through the historic center of Caiazzo amidst re-enactments, gastronomy, and entertainment. It is a perfect opportunity to discover one of the most characteristic villages in the province of Caserta and its medieval traditions.
