Great cinema returns to the center of Forlì
In the summer of 2026, Cinema di Misura — Under the Summer Sky is born, the new open-air film festival that brings the big screen to the heart of Forlì's historic center, in the heart of the Province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. Promoted by the Municipality of Forlì in collaboration with Casa Walden, the event revives the city's summer with a program dedicated to the best auteur cinema, both Italian and international.
Seven evenings of free screenings
The heart of the festival is a week of screenings held in the evocative Piazzetta della Misura: seven art-house films presented in original language with Italian subtitles and selected by the prestigious Cineteca di Bologna, one of the leading institutions for film culture in Italy and worldwide. Each film is introduced by a different guest, invited to guide the audience in discovering the works in the program, their context, and their artistic value.
A festival in two parts
The initiative is divided into two distinct phases. The pre-opening phase «Waiting for Cinema», from July 22 to 24, offers public meetings, dialogues, and discussions in the Cloister of San Mercuriale, in Piazza Saffi, to bring the city closer to the festival. This is followed by the main festival, from July 27 to August 2, with the seven screenings in Piazzetta della Misura and a concluding event at the Arena Eliseo.
A festival designed for the city
Cinema di Misura was created with a specific goal: to offer a quality cultural experience to those who stay in the city during the summer. The festival is particularly aimed at families, young people, and university students, contributing to the revitalization of the historic center during the summer months. Admission to all evenings is completely free, in line with the popular and inclusive nature of the project.
Cinema di Misura — edition 2026
The inaugural edition of Cinema di Misura — Under the Summer Sky debuts in the summer of 2026 in Forlì, promoted by the Municipality in collaboration with Casa Walden. The festival brings seven auteur films, both Italian and international, to the historic center, screened in their original language with Italian subtitles and chosen by the Cineteca di Bologna.
The festival opens with three pre-opening days, «Waiting for Cinema», from July 22 to 24 in the Cloister of San Mercuriale, and continues with evening screenings in Piazzetta della Misura from July 27 to August 2, culminating in a final event at the Arena Eliseo.

The detailed program for this first edition, including the seven titles selected by the Cineteca di Bologna and the guests who will introduce each evening, will be announced by the Municipality of Forlì and Casa Walden in the weeks preceding the event.

How to get there
Forlì's historic center is easily reachable on foot from the train station. By car, it is advisable to use the city center parking lots and walk towards Piazza Saffi and the nearby Piazzetta della Misura.
