The spring fair of the Reggiano Apennines
The May Fair in Felina is one of the most cherished events of spring in the Reggiano Apennines. It takes place in Felina, a populous hamlet of the Municipality of Castelnovo ne' Monti, in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. For an entire weekend in mid-May, the town center transforms into a large festive space, with a street market, stands selling typical products, fairground rides, and plenty of live music to accompany the days.
Three days of celebration for the whole community
The event usually opens on Friday evening at Parco Tegge with the Spring Concert by the Felina Musical Band, joined by the Youth Band of the Reggiano Apennines. However, the pulsating heart of the fair is the Children's Fair on Saturday: the town center is closed to traffic and fills with board games, creative workshops, bike paths, street games, scout activities, and stalls selling toys and comics, in a large, widespread game designed for children and families.
Market, taste, and tradition
Sunday is dedicated to the actual fair, with the street market, stalls of typical Apennine products, crafts, fairground rides, and musical entertainment along the streets and squares of Felina. There's also a sporting dimension, with a non-competitive run through the town, and a community aspect: the fair is indeed the result of the work of the Pro Loco of Felina, in collaboration with the Municipality of Castelnovo ne' Monti, schools, the band, and numerous local associations.

More than just a market fair, the May Fair is a moment of collective identity for Felina and for the entire ridge of the Apennines: it brings together different generations, enhances local musical and craft traditions, and offers visitors the opportunity to discover the flavors and hospitality of the Apennines. May Fair — edition 2026
The May Fair in Felina 2026 was held from Friday, May 15th to Sunday, May 17th, 2026, organized by the Pro Loco of Felina in collaboration with the Municipality of Castelnovo ne' Monti, schools, the band, and local associations.
On Friday evening, Parco Tegge hosted the Spring Concert by the Felina Musical Band; on Saturday, the town center, closed to traffic, transformed for the Children's Fair with games, workshops, and scattered activities; Sunday featured the main fair with a market, local products, rides, and live music. Among the initiatives was also the non-competitive run "Felina di corsa - 5th Ivan Fioroni Memorial".
Programme May Fair 2026
Friday, May 15th
- 9:00 PM — Parco Tegge: "Spring Concert" by the Felina Musical Band (conducted by Maestro Davide Castellari) with the Youth Band of the Reggiano Apennines.
Saturday, May 16th — Children's Fair
- 2:30 PM — Town center: opening concert with the Youth Band and the "Facciamo musica" group formed by students from Felina schools.
- Afternoon — Traffic-free center with widespread activities: board games (Pro Loco), workshop to build chessboards (Istituto Comprensivo Bismantova), bike course (Riviviamo Felina), discovery of musical instruments (Felina Band), street games (Erewhon Teatro), scout activities (Agesci), stalls selling toys and comics, snack for participants.
- 9:30 PM — Parco Tegge: dancing evening with the orchestra of Roberto Scaglioni.
Sunday, May 17th — May Fair
- All day: street market, stalls of typical products, rides and attractions, activities for all ages, and musical entertainment with the Felina Band.
- 9:30 AM — Non-competitive run "Felina di corsa - 5th Ivan Fioroni Memorial" (meeting and registration from 8:00 AM at Albergo Ristorante Aquila Nera).
- Inauguration of the Don Zanni staircase (Fondazione Don Artemio Zanni).

How to get there
By car: Felina is located along the SS63 of the Cerreto Pass, a few minutes from Castelnovo ne' Monti, about 45 minutes from Reggio Emilia. By train: Reggio Emilia station, then bus services towards the Reggiano Apennines.
