The event that closes the season in Monchio delle Corti, between Apennine atmospheres and community celebration
Una Montagna in Piazza is the event that concludes the season of happenings in Monchio delle Corti, a small mountain municipality in the Province of Parma, in Emilia-Romagna, situated on the border with Tuscany and completely immersed in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. The festival takes place in the heart of the village, in Piazza Cà Boneto, and represents the convivial moment with which the Monchio community says goodbye to the past year and welcomes the arrival of winter and the holidays.
The event has the warmth of a true village festival: from the early afternoon, the square comes alive with workshops for children, music, and social gatherings. The heart of the day is the lighting of the tree, accompanied by the singing of the little ones, a simple and anticipated ritual that symbolically marks the beginning of the Christmas period in the mountains. The celebration then continues with snacks and an aperitif that showcases the flavors of the Apennines, from fried salami to mulled wine, perfect for warming up a late November day.
With just over eight hundred inhabitants and a capital located at over 800 meters above sea level, Monchio delle Corti is one of the highest municipalities in the Parma area. Its territory, made up of high-altitude lakes, woods, and ancient courtyards, is one of the access points to the Park of the Hundred Lakes and the system of the Hundred Lakes of the upper Apennines. Here, village life retains an authentic rhythm, and events like Una Montagna in Piazza are an opportunity to experience firsthand the identity of a mountain community that makes conviviality and the connection with nature its distinctive trait.
A free event, designed for families and visitors, that invites you to rediscover the taste of simple things and the beauty of the Apennines in its winter guise.
