The premier tasting event for Maremma Toscana wines in Alberese
In the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, in Alberese (a village in the municipality of Grosseto, Tuscany), mareMMMa – The Nature of Wine returns every spring. This grand tasting event brings together the three most representative appellations of the Grosseto territory: Maremma Toscana DOC, Montecucco, and Morellino di Scansano. Born from a collaboration between the three protection consortia, the event has grown to become one of the most anticipated wine gatherings on the Tuscan coast.
The event takes place in the central hall of the Granaio Lorenese of Spergolaia, a stunning historic building nestled within the Maremma Regional Park. This location is no coincidence: the space reflects the agricultural and land-reclamation history of the Lorraine era, offering an elegant and intimate setting for visitors to navigate the winery tasting tables.
mareMMMa offers one of the widest selections in the region, with hundreds of labels presented directly by the producers. Alongside the great Sangiovese-based reds from the Montecucco and Morellino appellations, visitors can sample:
A particularly appreciated feature is the organization of producers by vineyard origin, grouped by municipality: a way to highlight the deep connection between the wine and the Maremma landscape.
The format includes one day dedicated to wine lovers and enthusiasts, and another reserved for industry professionals—restaurateurs, distributors, wine merchants, and sommeliers—to foster connections between wineries and the professional wine world.
Attending mareMMMa is also an opportunity to discover the Tuscan Maremma, a land of butteri (cowboys), pine forests, wild beaches, and medieval villages. The province of Grosseto is currently one of the most dynamic areas of Tuscan winemaking, successfully blending rural tradition, sustainability, and internationally recognized quality.
The 2026 edition of mareMMMa – The Nature of Wine expanded to two days at the Granaio Lorenese of Spergolaia in Alberese (Grosseto). A total of 582 labels from 113 wineries were available for tasting, including 383 wines from the Maremma Toscana region. Among the most anticipated novelties was the official presentation of the new "Superiore" mention for Morellino di Scansano.
Sunday, March 1st (2:30 PM - 6:30 PM) was open to enthusiasts and wine lovers; Monday, March 2nd (10:30 AM - 6:30 PM) was reserved for industry professionals—restaurateurs, distributors, wine merchants, and sommeliers. Admission was free with online registration.
