The festival of nerd culture in the heart of the Motor Valley
The Maranello Motor Fantafest is the great celebration of pop and nerd culture that animates the center of Maranello, in the province of Modena, in the heart of the famous Emilian Motor Valley, every year. Born in 2023, the event is organized by the cultural association Satyrnet together with the Consorzio Maranello Terra del Mito and the Municipality of Maranello, and in just a few editions it has become a regular fixture for fans of comics, video games, engines, and fantasy imagery.
The event takes place between Piazza Libertà and Via Stradi, with themed areas ranging from comics to Formula 1, from cosplay to K-pop, from live music to voice acting, to retrogaming, driving simulation, board games, modeling, and street culture. It is an event designed for lovers of otaku and nerd culture, but also for families and the curious who want to discover a different side of the city of Ferrari.
One of the highlights of the event is the exhibition of iconic cars from the big screen. Among the featured vehicles are James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, seen in Dr. No and GoldenEye, the DMC DeLorean from Back to the Future, the Ford Model T of Laurel and Hardy, the Vespa from Roman Holiday, the Fiat 600 from Fantozzi, and the sidecars of Indiana Jones and Don Camillo. A gallery that makes cinephiles and car enthusiasts dream, perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the Motor Valley.
The festival hosts a rich Artist Alley with comic artists and illustrators for commissions, prints, and original works, as well as a commercial area for comics, merchandise, and handmade self-productions. There are also cosplay competitions, K-pop and Random Play Dance shows, Beyblade tournaments, the Tondodromo with the longest 1/32 Slot Car track in Italy, a retrogaming area with vintage arcade cabinets and consoles, sim racing, Lego and Gunpla building workshops, live graffiti painting, juggling, tattoos, and caricatures.
Admission to all areas of the Maranello Motor Fantafest is free, with ample free parking near the center. With street food, stands from the Consorzio Maranello Terra del Mito, and many activities for adults and children, the event is an opportunity to experience Maranello in a pop and festive way, away from the most traditional tourist routes but always with a passion for engines and fantasy.
The 2026 edition, the fourth of the event, brought two days packed with appointments between comics, engines, and nerd culture to Maranello. Iconic movie cars were on display, with a special guest, the real Aston Martin DB5 from James Bond, alongside the DeLorean, the Vespa from Roman Holiday, and other legendary models. On stage, concerts, meetings with authors and voice actors, cosplay competitions, and K-pop shows alternated.
Permanent areas on both days: Artist Alley, comic and merchandise commercial area, retrogaming at the E. Ferrari Auditorium, sim racing (ICS Esport ASD), Beyblade (IBNA), Tondodromo with the longest 1/32 Slot Car track in Italy, board games (WeRole and RisiKo! Club), Gunpla (Base Bianca) and Lego (MaranelloBrick) building workshops, Itasha Italy gathering, live graffiti painting, juggling, tattoos (Alle Tattoo), caricatures, and street food.
