About Manziana Music Festival

Every year, around the summer solstice, Manziana joins the national Music Festival circuit, transforming the alleys, squares, and courtyards of its historic center into a vast open-air stage. With dozens of musical spots, hundreds of local and visiting artists, and jam sessions open to anyone who wants to play, it is a free, informal, and participatory event where the audience wanders freely from one concert to the next, following the sound. It is an appointment that unites this village near Rome, its historic band, and the surrounding woods.

A town that plays in harmony

The Manziana Music Festival is one of the most beloved summer events in the Lake Bracciano area. On the longest day of the year, or the days immediately surrounding it, the Municipality of Manziana, in the province of Rome, Lazio, joins the national Music Festival circuit and opens its streets to anyone with something to play or sing. There are no official stages or hierarchies: there are performance spots, each with its own artistic identity, scattered across squares, open spaces, alleys, bars, and public areas of the historic center.

The result is a sonic journey that winds through the entire town. The audience doesn't sit in front of a stage: they walk, stop where the sound draws them in, and move on. It is the original formula of the Music Festival born in France and spread throughout Europe, reinterpreted here with the intimacy of a Lazio village of a few thousand inhabitants where almost everyone knows each other.

Who organizes it

Behind the event, there is no professional machine, but an informal collective of citizens, supported by the historic Alberto Tabirri Musical Band of Manziana, local associations, town merchants, volunteers, and the Municipality. This grassroots origin explains the character of the event: no tickets, no rigid selection of artists, and maximum freedom of expression. The Tabirri Band, with its music school, remains a reference point for the town's cultural life and helps ensure the festival's continuity.

The performance spots and the program

In the most recent edition, the number of performance spots grew to ten, with over two hundred musicians, bands, singer-songwriters, and performers from the local area and beyond. The selection is intentionally eclectic: ranging from jazz to rock, pop to classical music, folk to choral groups, and band performances. There is also the open jam session, the symbolic moment of the event, where anyone can show up with their instrument and join in.

  • Performance spots spread throughout the squares and alleys of the historic center
  • Acoustic concerts, electric ensembles, singer-songwriters, and choirs
  • Jam session open to spontaneous participation
  • Activities dedicated to children and families
  • Bars and businesses involved along the route

The Manziana Forest

One of the unique features of the 2026 edition was the morning opening inside the Manziana Forest, the famous oak and beech wood surrounding the town: musical performances immersed in the natural environment, in dialogue with the national theme of the Music Festival dedicated to the "voice of places." It is a way to link the event to the environmental heritage that is perhaps the strongest identity trait of Manziana, along with its sulfur springs.

Manziana and its surroundings

Manziana is located just over forty kilometers from Rome, in the heart of the Sabatino district, a short distance from Lake Bracciano and the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Park. The territory preserves traces of Villanovan, Etruscan, and Roman settlements, and the historic center revolves around Piazza Tittoni and the villa of the same name. Those who arrive for the festival find much more than a concert: a village to explore on foot, the Roman Tuscia countryside within reach, and a local gastronomy made of simple forest products and peasant traditions.

Why it is worth the trip

In a summer landscape crowded with large ticketed festivals, the Manziana Music Festival defends a different idea: music as a common good, free and accessible to all, played by professionals and amateurs in the same space. For those visiting Lazio in June, it is the chance to see an entire town in motion, in an evening that lasts until midnight where the distinction between those playing and those listening thins until it almost disappears.

Manziana Music Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Manziana Music Festival took place on Saturday, June 20, with over two hundred musicians, bands, singer-songwriters, and performers spread across ten spots in the historic center. The day opened in the morning in the Manziana Forest with performances immersed in nature, then moved from late afternoon until midnight through the town's squares and alleys. Free admission, open jam sessions, and activities for children.

2026 Edition

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Manziana celebrated the Music Festival with the most extensive formula ever implemented by the organizing collective. The morning, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, took place in the Manziana Forest, with entry from the Colonie area: musical performances immersed in the natural environment, in harmony with the national theme dedicated to the "voice of places."

From 5:00 PM until midnight, the historic center turned into a widespread stage, with ten musical spots distributed among squares, streets, and public spaces, each with its own artistic identity. Over 200 artists from the local area and beyond participated. The audience moved freely along the sonic path, between concerts, acoustic performances, bands, singer-songwriters, and collective shows.

As per tradition, there was also space for the open jam session, which anyone could join, and activities designed for children. Admission was free at all locations.
