About Mangialonga of Gremiasco

The Mangialonga of Gremiasco is a non-competitive food and wine walking tour that winds through the villages and badlands of the upper Val Curone, in the province of Alessandria. This 7.5 km loop, with an elevation gain of 280 meters, combines the pleasure of hiking with the discovery of local flavors. Along the Gremiasco-Ronco-Codevico-Gremiasco route, participants encounter various gourmet stops, from focaccia to salami, and cheeses with honey to ravioli, all paired with local wines. It is a convivial occasion to socialize, get some exercise, and enjoy the fine food of the Piedmontese Apennines.

A walk through the flavors and landscapes of Val Curone

The Mangialonga of Gremiasco is a non-competitive food and wine walk that traverses one of the most authentic corners of the Piedmontese Apennines. Organized in the municipality of Gremiasco, in the upper Val Curone in the province of Alessandria, the event invites walkers and food lovers to cover a loop of approximately 7.5 km with 280 meters of elevation gain, along the Gremiasco-Ronco-Codevico-Gremiasco trail. The pace is free, and departures are staggered starting at 9:30 AM, allowing everyone to enjoy the route at their own leisure.

Gourmet stops along the way

What makes this walk special is the series of food and wine stops distributed among the villages along the route. On the trail, you can taste typical local products offered by farms and local producers:

  • Ronco: focaccia, savory pies, and baked specialties;
  • Codevico: salami, pilgrim's bread, breadsticks, and cheeses with honey;
  • Gremiasco (grand finale): ravioli, desserts, and local wines at the Sports Center.

Each stop is accompanied by local wines and beverages, in a journey that celebrates the flavors of the Val Curone's rural tradition.

A territory to discover

The route develops largely on dirt paths, crossing woods, badlands, and small villages that characterize this strip of the Apennines. Forest areas occupy just under half of the municipal territory, offering evocative glimpses of wildlife, mushrooms, and chestnuts. Walking here means immersing yourself in an intact rural landscape, far from mass tourism circuits.

Conviviality and tradition

More than just a simple hike, the Mangialonga of Gremiasco is a moment of celebration and sharing that unites the desire for outdoor activity with the pleasure of fine dining. The initiative is organized by La Pietra Verde ETS in collaboration with the Municipality of Gremiasco and numerous local entities, with the aim of promoting the territory and its products. It is an event designed for families, groups of friends, and fans of gentle trekking, capable of telling the story of this corner of Piedmont through its flavors.
