About Mangialonga

Mangialonga is a food and wine walking tour that brings the hills between Cavagnolo, Brusasco, Lauriano, and Monteu da Po, in the province of Turin, to life every May 1st. The route spans approximately 7 km across trails and vineyards, punctuated by delicious stops featuring local products, where the pleasure of good food meets the joy of walking in nature. Organized by the local Pro Loco associations for charity, it is a festive and convivial event beloved by families in the Monferrato area.

Mangialonga: taste and trekking in the Turin Monferrato

The Mangialonga is one of the most cherished local events, connecting Cavagnolo, Brusasco, Lauriano, and Monteu da Po—four towns in the province of Turin nestled in the hills of the lower Monferrato overlooking the Po River. Every May 1st, hundreds of walkers set out on a gourmet itinerary that winds through scenic paths, vineyards, and quiet country lanes, stopping along the way to savor traditional dishes and products prepared by the organizing Pro Loco associations.

A journey through flavors and landscapes

The trail covers approximately 7 kilometers with an elevation gain of about 220 meters, featuring a mix of 60% dirt paths and 40% paved roads. The start and finish line is the Abbazia di Santa Fede sports field in Cavagnolo, on Via San Lorenzo: a symbolic location adjacent to the charming 12th-century Benedictine abbey. The walk is punctuated by various gastronomic stops, from breakfast at the small church of San Rocco to refreshments along the way, culminating in a final lunch to wrap up the day.

Tradition, community, and solidarity

The Mangialonga is organized jointly by the Pro Loco associations of Cavagnolo, Lauriano, Monteu da Po, and Brusasco, with the patronage of their respective municipalities, the Piedmont Region, and Unpli Piemonte. More than just a simple walk, it is a village festival that celebrates conviviality: the proceeds from the event are donated to charity, making the day a true act of solidarity. Registration is required to participate, with a limited number of spots to ensure a high-quality experience.
