The great late May festival at Parco ai Molini, featuring donkey stew and a wine exhibition
In Pasiano di Pordenone, at the gateway to the Friulian plain, late May means Maggio Pasianese and its famous Sagra della Mussa (Donkey Stew Festival), which in 2026 will reach its 48th edition. The heart of the festival is the Parco ai Molini, a location immersed in greenery by the river, with ample covered seating and, in the loggia of the old, still-functioning mill, the Sottochiosco, the youthful soul of the event.
The dish that gives the festival its name is 'mussa', meaning donkey, served according to local tradition as donkey stew and in donkey ragu gnocchi. Alongside this specialty, the stalls offer grilled meats, steak, pizza from the wood-fired oven, and traditional festival fare, while the Sottochiosco serves spritz, cocktails, and beer.
A prestigious event is the Provincial Wine Exhibition, now in its 27th edition, dedicated to the theme "The Perfect Pairing" in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Association FVG. Evenings alternate between DJ sets, '80s, '90s, and 2000s revival music, tribute band concerts, and the performance of the Bersaglieri Band, while the funfair, charity raffle, exhibitions, and initiatives like Pasiano Pedala and Colorun engage families and young people.
Organized by the Municipality of Pasiano di Pordenone with the Parish and numerous local associations, the Sagra della Mussa has been the town's major collective event for almost half a century: a successful balance between gastronomic tradition, wine culture, and popular celebration.
From May 15th to 31st, 2026, Pasiano di Pordenone hosts the 48th edition of the Sagra della Mussa (Donkey Stew Festival), as part of Maggio Pasianese, at Parco ai Molini. Over two weeks of food stalls featuring donkey specialties, grilled meats, wood-fired pizza, a wine exhibition, a funfair, DJ sets, and concerts, with the Sottochiosco in the loggia of the old mill serving as the youthful hub.
The 2026 program (main dates and times published by the Municipality and organizers) includes, among other things:
How to get there: Parco ai Molini is located in Pasiano di Pordenone, reachable by car from the provincial road network; ample parking nearby.
Admission: free entry to the area; paid consumption at the stands. The Provincial Wine Exhibition requires mandatory reservation.
