The neighborhood festival of North Trento featuring local cuisine, music, and community spirit
Maggio ai Solteri is the neighborhood festival that, every May, brings the Solteri district to life in the northern part of Trento, the capital of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. This is no ordinary festival: it is a grassroots event born from the volunteer spirit and the desire for connection among a part of the city that encompasses the Solteri, Magnete, and Centochiavi districts—home to about six thousand residents who long lacked a true public square where they could meet.
The heart of the festival beats within the grounds of the former Atesina, a large area owned by Trentino Trasporti that the municipal administration has granted to the neighborhood for the duration of the event. For the district, this is a long-awaited victory: a space finally available to host lunches, games, concerts, and exhibitions, with the hope that it may become a permanent venue for many other local initiatives.
The dining experience at Maggio ai Solteri reflects the multicultural soul of the neighborhood. Alongside traditional Trentino dishes—from homemade pasta to luganega sausage—you will find international specialties like couscous, in a menu that unites the diverse communities living here. Evenings unfold at carefully arranged tables, with live music providing the perfect backdrop to the dinner.
Among the most heartfelt moments is the lunch dedicated to the elderly and those living alone, a gesture of solidarity that makes Maggio ai Solteri more than just a party. In a recent edition, the lunch was entirely sponsored by a long-time resident in memory of his wife, Rita, with the goal of launching a foundation in her name to support those in need. A violinist accompanied the event, with tablecloths and small plants adding a warm, welcoming touch to the tables.
Organized by the Nodi di Vita volunteer association, the festival connects various local entities: the senior citizens' club, the parish, the oratory, the Alpine troops, and sports associations. It is this synergy that makes Maggio ai Solteri, in the Municipality of Trento and the Autonomous Province of Trento, an event capable of attracting thousands of people each night and restoring to the Solteri district, for a few days in May, the square they have long desired.
The 2026 edition of Maggio ai Solteri was held from May 23 to 25, 2026, in the Solteri neighborhood of North Trento. The highlight of the year was the reopening of the former Atesina site, granted by the Municipality to the neighborhood for the festival days: a space long awaited by residents, which hosted lunches, games, concerts, and community gatherings.
The event, organized by the Nodi di Vita association in collaboration with local entities, attracted thousands of people each evening. On the menu: Trentino cuisine, with luganega sausage and traditional dishes, alongside international specialties like couscous, representing the neighborhood's multicultural soul. The lunch dedicated to the elderly and those living alone was also confirmed, accompanied by live music.
Three days of festivities (May 23-25, 2026) at the former Atesina site: evenings featuring Trentino and international cuisine, live music, games and activities for families, and the lunch dedicated to the elderly and those living alone. Detailed program available on the festival's social media channels.
The festival takes place in the Solteri neighborhood, in North Trento, within the grounds of the former Atesina along Via Solteri.
By car: take the Trento Nord exit on the A22 Brenner motorway; the Solteri area is easily accessible from the city center. By train: arrive at Trento station and take urban connections toward North Trento. Public transport services connect the neighborhood to the city center.
Admission to the festival is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls. It is recommended to arrive early on busy evenings. For updated dates and programs, it is best to follow the festival's Instagram and Facebook pages.
