The summer concert series in Palazzuolo sul Senio, featuring chamber music and an international drum camp
Lune di Musica is the musical event that transforms Palazzuolo sul Senio, a small town in the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines (Florence, Tuscany), into a sprawling stage every summer. For nearly two months, from mid-June to early August, the churches, squares, and most picturesque corners of the historic center host a series of concerts designed for music lovers of all kinds, ranging from classical and chamber music to international percussion performances.
The initiative is promoted by the Giulio Savoi Musical Band, a historic local ensemble, in collaboration with the Municipality of Palazzuolo sul Senio. The artistic direction is entrusted to maestros Donato D'Antonio and Michele Soglia, who curate a program that balances sophisticated repertoires with more popular moments, always with a keen focus on the quality of the performers.
The program weaves together diverse genres and ensembles: string quartets, virtuosic violin and guitar duets, vocal concerts featuring artists from the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and performances by the local band in the village squares. Many events are held at the Parish Church of Santo Stefano, Piazza del Crocifisso, and Piazza Strigelli, the beating hearts of village life.
The jewel in the crown of the festival is the Palazzuolo sul Senio Drum Camp, an international gathering dedicated to the drums that draws some of the world's greatest percussionists to this small Tuscan village. With masterclasses, jam sessions, and the highly anticipated evening Drum Battle, the Drum Camp has made Palazzuolo a reference point for enthusiasts and professionals alike, proving that even a town of a few hundred inhabitants can become a crossroads for world-class talent.
Attending a Lune di Musica concert is also an opportunity to discover Palazzuolo sul Senio, one of the most characteristic villages in the Upper Mugello, nestled in the green Apennines on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. The musical evenings thus become the perfect occasion to experience the village, its traditions, and its hospitality.
The 2026 edition of the Lune di Musica festival confirms the formula that has made the musical summer of Palazzuolo sul Senio famous: quality concerts spread across the village's churches and squares, from June 14 to August 2, with a preview on June 7 and the usual grand finale featuring the international Drum Camp.
The international drum gathering returns with an absolute star-studded lineup: George Kollias (drummer for Nile, a historic presence at the event), Michaela Naydenova (formerly of Nervosa), and Jay Weinberg (Slipknot, Bruce Springsteen, Suicidal Tendencies), visiting Italy for the first time for lessons and masterclasses.
