The biggest names in international music in the heart of Lucca
The Lucca Summer Festival is one of the most important summer musical events in Italy and across Europe. Founded in 1998 by Mimmo D'Alessandro and the D'Alessandro e Galli agency, the festival has transformed the city of Lucca, in the province of the same name in Tuscany, into one of the capitals of live music during the summer. Over its twenty-year history, it has brought some of the biggest names on the international scene to its stages.
Concerts take place in two iconic Lucca locations: the intimate and scenic Piazza Napoleone, in the historic center, which hosts most of the shows, and the Historic Walls area, the famous Renaissance circuit surrounding the city, used for major headliner concerts capable of attracting tens of thousands of spectators. Attending a concert under the walls or in the heart of Lucca's historic center makes for an experience unique from any other major European festival.
The hallmark of the Lucca Summer Festival is its multi-genre programming: the same lineup features pop, rock, jazz, soul, classical music, and singer-songwriters. This variety, combined with the quality of the offering, has made the festival a benchmark for both Italian and foreign audiences, with a significant share of tickets sold abroad, testifying to its international stature.
The festival is an integral part of the identity of Lucca, a city boasting a deep musical tradition and the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, among others. During the festival weeks, the historic center comes alive with crowds, outdoor seating, and side events, generating significant tourism revenue for the entire province of Lucca and Tuscany.
The 2026 edition of the Lucca Summer Festival, the 27th in the event's history, confirms the festival's multi-genre vocation with a lineup ranging from pop to rock, and from classical music to jazz. The concerts are spread over five weeks, from June 24 to July 29, between Piazza Napoleone and the Historic Walls area of Lucca. Highlights include the opening night with Ludovico Einaudi, the only Italian date for Jamiroquai, Katy Perry's concert on the Walls, and the tour celebrating Pooh's 60th anniversary.
Lucca is easily accessible by train (Lucca station, a few minutes' walk from the historic center) and by car via the A11 Firenze-Mare motorway, taking the Lucca Est or Lucca Ovest exit. The nearest airport is Pisa (Galileo Galilei), about 30 minutes away.
Tickets are on sale on the official website and via TicketOne. Prices vary by artist, ranging from approximately 34 to nearly 100 euros depending on the concert and seating section.
For major concerts on the Walls, it is advisable to arrive well in advance. Lucca offers numerous accommodations in the historic center and surrounding areas: booking in advance is recommended during the festival period.
