Europe's largest festival dedicated to comics, gaming, and pop culture
Founded in 1966 as the International Comics Salon, Lucca Comics & Games is today the most important European event dedicated to comics, gaming, and the pop imagination, second worldwide only to Tokyo. For five days, the entire city of Lucca, in the heart of Tuscany, becomes a massive, sprawling theme park: the Renaissance walls, squares, and historic buildings of the municipality host pavilions, stands, stages, and exhibition areas that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. The 2025 edition saw over 280,000 tickets sold, more than 17,000 professional accreditations, and over 900 guests from every corner of the planet.
The festival is organized into numerous themed areas distributed throughout the historic center, each dedicated to a different world:
Unlike trade fairs confined to exhibition halls, Lucca Comics & Games embraces the entire urban fabric: Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Michele, Piazza Anfiteatro, the Baluardo San Regolo, and dozens of other locations become the natural stage for the festivities. This fusion of Tuscan historical heritage and contemporary culture is what makes the Lucca experience unique in the world. The festival is organized by Lucca Crea srl on behalf of the Municipality of Lucca, in the province of Lucca.
The 2026 edition, scheduled from October 28th to November 1st, marks a historic milestone: the 60th anniversary of the event. An edition that weaves memory and innovation, celebrating six decades of passion for comics, games, and pop culture, accompanied by the "Road to #LuccaCG60" journey.
From October 28 to November 1, 2026, Lucca Comics & Games returns to the historic center of Lucca to celebrate its 60th anniversary. It will be a special edition, weaving the story of its origins with the latest trends in contemporary pop culture, while maintaining the classic five-day format around the All Saints' holiday.
Among the first guests announced are writer David Almond, author Mirka Andolfo, and illustrator John Blanche. Panini Comics will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of PK, the superhero alter ego of Paperinik. The "Road to #LuccaCG60" journey will guide the public toward the event with previews and symbolic milestones.
The full program for the 2026 edition, including the guest line-up, exhibitions, and events, will be announced progressively in the months leading up to the event through the "Road to #LuccaCG60" project.
