About Lucanian Flavors Agromonte

In the heart of summer, the small hamlet of Agromonte Magnano (Latronico) celebrates Lucanian peasant cuisine with two evenings of tastings, music, and folklore. The most anticipated moment is the unrolling of the world's longest artisanal sausage through the village streets, a ritual that draws curious visitors and gourmets from all over Basilicata.

A Village That Tells Its Story at the Table

When August arrives, Agromonte Magnano, a tiny hamlet in the municipality of Latronico, in the heart of the Pollino National Park in the province of Potenza, transforms into a grand open-air feast. The Lucanian Flavors Festival, organized by the Pro Loco Latronico, has for almost thirty years been the event that brings together residents and returning emigrants around a simple and powerful idea: rediscovering the authentic, genuine, and homemade flavors of this land.

The World's Longest Sausage

The highlight is undoubtedly the unrolling of the world's longest sausage, produced by the local butcher shop and unrolled through the village streets: in some editions, over 800 meters have been surpassed, a record that has become the very symbol of the festival. Around this collective ritual, a tasting journey unfolds with sausage sandwiches and local specialties.

The Flavors of Pollino

The stalls offer dishes from peasant tradition: gliommaridd, cannaricoli, potatoes and 'peperoni cruschi' (crispy peppers), and the famous mischiglio, an ancient pasta made from legumes and cereals seasoned with mushrooms and pancetta. A simple cuisine, yet rich in identity, telling centuries of life in the villages of the upper Sinni valley.

Between Music and Memory

The two evenings alternate musical entertainment with folk music groups and activities for children, inflatables, and games, as well as cultural moments like book presentations on local dialect riddles and proverbs. It's a joyful way to keep alive the linguistic, historical, and artistic identity of a territory that does not want to forget its roots.

Lucanian Flavors Agromonte — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Lucanian Flavors Festival is scheduled for Agromonte Magnano in August, with the usual two evenings of tastings, folk music, and the sausage unrolling. The precise date will be announced by Pro Loco Latronico in the weeks prior.

The Lucanian Flavors Festival returns to animate Agromonte Magnano in the summer of 2026. The traditional format of the festival is confirmed: two evenings dedicated to the flavors of Pollino, the unrolling of the artisanal sausage, and entertainment for all ages, organized by Pro Loco Latronico.
