Lockenfest in Plan de Gralba

The Lockenfest by the Freeride Club Gherdeina is one of the most anticipated and fun end-of-season events in Val Gardena, in the municipality of Selva di Val Gardena/Wolkenstein in Gröden, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol). The festival takes place in Plan de Gralba, at the Pudra ski lift, at an altitude of about 1,800 meters between Selva and the Sella Pass, in a stunning Dolomite setting.

The Pond Skim Challenge

The heart of the event is the classic and highly anticipated Pond Skim Challenge: participants compete, often in extravagant and colorful costumes, by launching themselves on skis or snowboards in an attempt to cross a pool of water carved into the snow. The result is an irresistible visual spectacle that tests balance and provides memorable dives for the less fortunate. It is not just about technique and speed: fun categories such as Best Trick, Best Crash, and Less Clothes are also awarded.

Music, BBQ, and Après-ski

Around the competition, the Freeride Club Gherdeina enlivens the day with cold beer, a rich BBQ, live music, and fantastic prizes. The atmosphere is that of a relaxed and festive alpine après-ski, perfect for saying goodbye to winter under the spring sun, with the peaks of the Sella group and the Sassolungo in the background.

Part of the Winter Finals

Lockenfest is part of the Winter Finals, the week of events with which Val Gardena closes the ski season with music at altitude, parties, and gastronomy. On the same day as Lockenfest, the traditional Weißwurstparty is held at the Salei Hütte, at the Sella Pass, while the grand finale of the week brings national and international DJs to the valley. A unique opportunity to experience Val Gardena not only as a ski paradise but also as a stage for fun and conviviality.
