Livigno relives the customs and traditions of the past
The Livigno Costume Festival is one of the most cherished folk events in Livigno, in the Province of Sondrio. Every summer, the community gathers to celebrate and revive the customs and traditions of the past, in an event that is both a popular festival and an act of collective memory.
The absolute protagonist is the traditional Livigno costume, worn during parades and re-enactments that reconstruct scenes of life from bygone days. The village thus transforms into a large open-air stage, where the gestures, clothes, and crafts of tradition come back to life before the eyes of residents and visitors.
Alongside the parades and re-enactments, the festival offers tastings of typical Livigno products, an opportunity to discover the authentic flavours of high-altitude Valtellina. It is a way to complete the experience, combining the visual and narrative dimension with the equally defining aspect of mountain gastronomy.
The 2026 edition of the Livigno Costume Festival, the 28th, takes place on Friday, July 31. The day revives Livigno's past customs and traditions with parades in traditional dress, historical re-enactments, and tastings of typical Livigno products. It is one of the most representative folk events in the Valtellina resort, capable of uniting memory, tradition, and conviviality.
The complete timetable will be published on the official Livigno website closer to the event.
