The evening walk along Lake Maggiore, a stage of the Gamba d'Oro circuit
The Lesa di Notte Night Walk is one of the most cherished events in the amateur running calendar of Upper Piedmont. It takes place in Lesa, a charming lakeside village in the Province of Novara on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, and features a non-competitive evening stroll that kicks off as the town lights begin to shimmer on the water. This is not a speed race: it is a recreational walk open to everyone, where the joy of moving together matters more than the stopwatch.
Participants can choose between two tracks: a more challenging one of about 7 kilometers and a shorter, family-friendly one of about 2 kilometers. The route winds along the promenade and through the historic center of Lesa, offering stunning views of the lake at sunset and under the starry sky. The evening start, usually set for 8:00 PM from Piazza Antonio Gramsci, is what makes this event special: walking in the cool of the evening, with the reflection of the lights on the water, turns a simple walk into an experience that combines light exercise with the beauty of the Vergante landscape.
Lesa di Notte is a stage of the Gamba d'Oro circuit, the historic calendar of non-competitive runs and walks that for over fifty years has brought together amateur running enthusiasts from the provinces of Novara, Vercelli, and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. Being part of this circuit means joining a network of dozens of events that run through the towns of Northern Piedmont from March to October. For many walkers, Lesa di Notte is one of the most anticipated stages precisely because of its lakeside setting and evening schedule, which is rare in the landscape of daytime walks.
The event is organized by the Circolo Comunale Lesa with the support of the local community. It is suitable for athletes, groups of friends, and families with children, who can opt for the shorter track. Registration is simple and includes refreshments along the route: a perfect opportunity to discover Lesa and its promenade in an unusual, nocturnal guise.
The Lesa di Notte Night Walk returned on Friday, May 8, 2026, confirming its place in the Gamba d'Oro circuit calendar, now in its fiftieth edition. As per tradition, walkers were able to choose between the full 7-kilometer route and the short 2-kilometer track, with an evening start from the center of Lesa along Lake Maggiore.
Non-competitive recreational event, valid for the 2026 Gamba d'Oro circuit.
Lesa is located on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore, in the Province of Novara. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Meina or Arona exit). By train, the Lesa station is served by the Domodossola-Milan line. The meeting point is in Piazza Antonio Gramsci, in the town center.
Meeting in the late afternoon, with the start at 8:00 PM. Two routes available: approximately 7 km (walk) and approximately 2 km (family-friendly).
Non-competitive recreational event included in the Gamba d'Oro circuit. For registration and details, we recommend contacting the Circolo Comunale Lesa organization (tel. +39 347 4920075). Comfortable clothing is recommended, and given the evening hour, a flashlight or safety lights are advised.
