Food, wine, culture, and entertainment in a Nebrodi village

Le Vie dei Lancia – Lands of Flavor is a food, wine, and cultural festival held in Ficarra, a charming hillside village in the Nebrodi Mountains perched about 450 meters above sea level in the province of Messina, Sicily. The event takes place in the heart of the town, in Piazza Umberto I, and is named after the noble Lancia (or Lanza) family of Brolo, who held jurisdiction over Ficarra and neighboring villages from the Middle Ages until the 18th century, leaving a lasting mark on the area and the castle that dominates the town.
The festival was created to promote the agri-food products of the Lands of Lancia and introduce them to an international audience. The star of the show is the extra virgin olive oil made from the Minuta variety, typical of the Nebrodi region, but the program also celebrates the entire range of local products: citrus fruits, cheeses, cured meats, pastries, and traditional Sicilian peasant specialties. Food stalls along the village streets allow visitors to taste and purchase directly from producers in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
The heart of the festival lies in the cooking shows, featuring local chefs and special guests, alongside demonstrations by students from the local Hotel Management School. There is no shortage of street food options and culinary curiosities, such as the famous extra virgin olive oil ice cream. Evenings are enlivened by concerts, theatrical performances, and entertainment in the square, while daytime activities include round tables and conferences dedicated to quality oil and experiential tourism.
Le Vie dei Lancia is organized by the Union of Municipalities of Terra dei Lancia with the patronage of the Municipality of Ficarra and the Regional Department of Agriculture. The event has a networking mission: the days in Ficarra are part of a broader itinerary that also involves the nearby town of Brolo on the Tyrrhenian coast, creating a dialogue between the Nebrodi hinterland and the sea.
Visiting Le Vie dei Lancia is also the perfect opportunity to explore Ficarra, one of the most characteristic villages of the Nebrodi, with its stone alleys, castle, historic churches, and panoramic views stretching as far as the Aeolian Islands. A summer event that weaves together gastronomy, culture, and local identity, ideal for those who want to experience authentic Sicily away from the most crowded tourist routes.
The 2026 edition of Le Vie dei Lancia – Lands of Flavor in Ficarra does not yet have an official program or dates. Following the trend of previous years, the event is expected in the summer period, presumably in July, in the historic center of the Nebrodi village. The festival is expected to feature its established formula: food stalls dedicated to the excellence of the Lancia territory, cooking shows, extra virgin olive oil tastings, street food, and live performances in Piazza Umberto I. To find out dates and details as soon as they become available, please follow the organization's official channels.
