Wine and flavors of Abruzzo in the historic alleys of Atessa
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Le Notti del Vino is the festival that, on a warm summer evening, transforms the historic center of Atessa into a journey of taste and tradition. The village in the Val di Sangro, one of the largest in the province of Chieti, opens its alleys, small squares, and ancient streets to enthusiasts who stroll glass in hand among the winery stalls and Pro Loco stands. The event is part of the national Le Notti del Vino initiative promoted by the Città del Vino Association, of which Atessa is a member, and which involves over five hundred municipalities across Italy every summer.
At the heart of the event are the local wineries, offering tastings of iconic Abruzzo wines: from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo to Trebbiano, from Cerasuolo to the productions of small valley estates. The public can follow a widespread food and wine itinerary, stopping at tasting desks and discovering labels that tell the story of the deep bond between this land and the vine.
Accompanying the wine are traditional dishes prepared by local Pro Loco associations and neighboring towns at food stands set up along the route. It is the perfect opportunity to savor the specialties of Abruzzo cuisine and local products, in a natural pairing with the wines being tasted.
Le Notti del Vino is more than just food and wine: the evenings are accompanied by live music, folk choirs, musicians, and street performers who bring the squares and alleys to life. The nocturnal atmosphere of the historic center, with its medieval glimpses, provides the backdrop for a popular festival that combines wine culture, conviviality, and the promotion of local traditions.
Organized by the Municipality of Atessa with the collaboration of local associations, the event is part of the summer calendar of food and wine events in the province of Chieti and Abruzzo. It is an appointment designed to promote local production and introduce the village's heritage to residents and visitors alike, during a time of year particularly rich in festivals and popular celebrations.
