The Le Luci del Mare Grand Gala is an annual summer event that brings Piazza degli Eroi to life in the heart of Rocca San Giovanni, overlooking the breathtaking Costa dei Trabocchi in the province of Chieti. Established in 2024, the event unites sport, its core values, and live music, bringing Olympic champions, national athletes, and celebrities from the Italian sports world to the stage.

The gala's format alternates between storytelling and musical performances. The stage hosts interviews with sports stars, awards ceremonies, and discussions on the values of commitment and sacrifice, all interspersed with musical interludes by local masters and artists. The result is a vibrant evening designed for the large audience of residents and tourists who flock to the village and the Abruzzo coast in August.
Stars of the early editions
The inaugural edition in August 2024 featured guests such as boxer Vincenzo Mangiacapre, a bronze medalist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, figure skater Debora Sbei, and boxer Emanuele Cavallucci, accompanied by the music of accordionist and composer Vincenzo De Ritis and baritone Christian Latorre. In 2025, the guest of honor was former Italian national team and Juventus goalkeeper Stefano Tacconi, who headlined an intense and well-attended evening.
A local event
The Le Luci del Mare Grand Gala is organized by the Centro Studi Sport&Valori, with artistic direction by Luigi Milozzi, and is part of the Estate Roccolana program promoted by the Municipality of Rocca San Giovanni. The initiative celebrates the village and the entire Costa dei Trabocchi, combining local tourism promotion with a positive message centered on sport, dedication, and the values that underpin them.

Le Luci del Mare — edition 2026
The Le Luci del Mare Grand Gala returns to Rocca San Giovanni for its third edition, scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, in Piazza degli Eroi. As in previous years, the evening will weave together sport and its values with live music, featuring athletes and champions as special guests.
The event is organized by the Centro Studi Sport&Valori with artistic direction by Luigi Milozzi and is part of the summer program of the Municipality of Rocca San Giovanni, in the province of Chieti. The full program and guest list for the 2026 edition will be announced by the organizers in the weeks preceding the event.

Getting there
Rocca San Giovanni is located in the province of Chieti, on the Costa dei Trabocchi. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway, taking the Lanciano or Val di Sangro exits; the village is connected to the SS16 Adriatica state road. The nearest train station is San Vito-Lanciano, on the Adriatic line.
Venue
The gala takes place in Piazza degli Eroi, in the historic center of the village, starting in the evening (typically around 9:00 PM in previous editions).

Admission to previous editions has been free with open seating.
Tips
The village is very busy in August: it is advisable to arrive early and combine the evening with a visit to the Costa dei Trabocchi and the beaches of Rocca San Giovanni.
