Lanciano Jazz Festival

Jazz in the heart of the Frentania region

The Lanciano Jazz Festival is a jazz series held at the Teatro Comunale Fedele Fenaroli in Lanciano, a town in the province of Chieti located in the heart of the Abruzzo Frentania region. Launched in 2024, the festival has found its natural home in the historic theatre on Via dei Frentani, offering Abruzzo audiences a selection of evening concerts performed by acclaimed national jazz musicians.

Artistic direction by Walter Gaeta

Since its inception, the festival has been curated by double bassist and composer Walter Gaeta, a leading figure in the Abruzzo jazz scene. His artistic direction has given the festival a distinct identity: a program that alternates between contemporary jazz, tributes to great film scores, and cross-genre experimentation, always with a sharp focus on the quality of the invited artists.

A project by the Municipality and the Fenaroli Institution

The Lanciano Jazz Festival is promoted by the Municipality of Lanciano in partnership with the Istituzione Civica di Musica F. Fenaroli. It is part of the broader "Lanciano Cultura" city program, which brings together theatre, music, exhibitions, and cultural meetings throughout the year. The festival is one of the most anticipated musical events in the local calendar, strengthening the city's role as a cultural hub in the province of Chieti and the Adriatic Abruzzo region.

The Teatro Fenaroli

Performances take place at the Teatro Comunale Fedele Fenaroli, an architectural gem dedicated to the Lanciano-born composer who lived between the 18th and 19th centuries. The intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics of the hall make the theatre an ideal setting for listening-focused jazz, where the close connection between musicians and the audience is an integral part of the experience.
