Lagundo Village Festival: Two Days of Community and Tradition

The Lagundo Dorffest — affectionately called "Inser bsunders Dorffest" by locals, meaning "our special village festival" — is one of the most cherished summer events in the Municipality of Lagundo/Algund, in the heart of the Merano region, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-South Tyrol). This is not a tourist-driven event imposed from above, but a genuine grassroots village celebration: it is organized by 23 local associations that, each with their own stall and contribution, bring the town center to life for two full days.

Live Music on Three Stages

The beating heart of the festival is music. Across three stages spread throughout the center, various genres alternate, ranging from South Tyrolean folk and brass music to Schlager, evergreen hits, rock, and pop. Local bands and artists such as Vollbluat, Christian Theiner and Band, Birgit & Friends, die Herwärtigen, Madea, Nina Duschek, Ina Pross, Selfmade Lemonade, and Holladuo have graced the stage. Saturday night continues with an after-show party featuring DJs for those who want to dance until late.

Zero-Mile Gastronomy

One of the hallmarks of the Dorffest is its focus on local products and sustainability. At the stalls, you will find cheese from the Lagundo dairy, bread from local bakers, fruit and vegetables from local farmers, meat and sausages from area butchers, as well as homemade cakes, sweets, and juices. It is the perfect opportunity to taste the authenticity of South Tyrol in an informal and genuine atmosphere.

Entertainment for Children and Families

The festival is also designed with families in mind. The Tanzclub Lunika presents its performances and invites little ones to the Saturday baby disco; there is also face painting, balloon modeling, organized games for children aged 4 to 10, and a piñata. At the chroniclers' and heritage protection association stand, visitors can test their knowledge of Lagundo, while the Tricky Riders offer bicycle tours.

A Festival That Tells the Story of the Village

More than just an event, the Dorffest is a living portrait of the Lagundo community: sports, cultural, youth, and volunteer associations come together, turning the streets and squares of the center into a large open-air living room. For visitors, it is the best way to discover the most authentic side of this village at the foot of the Merano mountains.
