The largest Vespa rally in South Tyrol, held in Lagundo
The Lagundo Vespa Rally is a staple of the summer in the municipality of Lagundo/Algund, located in the Burggrafenamt district just a few kilometres from Merano, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, on the first Sunday of July, the local festival grounds (Festplatz) fill with hundreds of gleaming Vespas, ranging from restored vintage models to modern machines, making it one of the most beloved motorcycle events in all of South Tyrol.
The event is organized by the Vespa Club ALAGUMNA, an association founded in 2010 by a group of friends united by their love for the iconic Italian scooter. Since 2011, the club has hosted this rally, which has grown to become famous well beyond regional borders for its unique atmosphere and unmistakable charm. The name "ALAGUMNA" recalls the ancient name of the town, set in a territory where Italian culture and German-speaking South Tyrolean traditions coexist.
The day's programme combines a passion for motorcycling with local festivities:
The Lagundo Vespa Rally is not just about parties and nostalgia: for years, the club has paired the event with a charity fundraiser, donating part of the proceeds to local solidarity initiatives. It is a way to combine a passion for the Vespa with a tangible gesture toward the community.
Whether you are a collector, an enthusiast, or simply curious, the Lagundo rally offers the chance to admire dozens of historic Vespas up close, soak in the friendly atmosphere of South Tyrol, and enjoy a Sunday outdoors amidst mountains, music, and great company. A free event open to everyone, it is the beating heart of the South Tyrolean motorcycling summer.
The 2026 edition of the Lagundo Vespa Rally was held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the festival grounds (Festplatz) in Lagundo, in the province of Bolzano. Musical entertainment was provided by the band Mas Que Nada, with an engaging mix of Rock & Blues that brought the day to life.
As per tradition, the rally combined a passion for the Vespa with solidarity: during the event, donations were collected for the LILT — Italian League for the Fight against Cancer. The day also featured the traditional breakfast, a scenic Vespa ride around Merano, and the usual awards for participants.
Lagundo/Algund is located about 3 km from Merano, in the province of Bolzano. By car: take the A22 motorway to Bolzano Sud, then the MeBo expressway to Merano and continue towards Lagundo. By train: arrive at Merano station, then take a local bus or taxi to the festival grounds.
The event takes place at the Festplatz (festival grounds) in Lagundo, with free admission. The day runs from morning until evening with breakfast, the Vespa ride, awards, and live music.
