Laguna in Festival: Dance takes center stage in Orbetello

Laguna in Festival is a dance event that lights up the evenings of Orbetello every June. Located in the heart of the lagoon in the province of Grosseto, southern Tuscany, the event is organized by the Pro Loco Lagunare in collaboration with the Municipality of Orbetello and local dance schools, which serve as both the heart and soul of the festival.

A square turned into a stage

The festival's natural stage is Piazza Giovanni Paolo II in Orbetello's historic center: a charming space that, once equipped with a stage and lighting, transforms into a true open-air theater for a few nights. Performances typically begin at 9:00 PM, when the day's heat gives way to the cool lagoon breeze and the audience fills the square to applaud the dancers.

The 2026 Program

The 2026 edition features three events spread across three weekends in June:

• June 1-2 — The People and Cultures World Dance Competition Gala, organized by the Deborah Fitness Club, kicks off the festival.
• June 12-13 — The show Oltre il sipario della fantasia, presented by Costa d'Argento Danza, at 9:00 PM.
• June 19-20 — The festival concludes with Danza delle invenzioni, by the Centro Studi Danza Orbetello, also at 9:00 PM.

The evenings range from classical ballet to modern and contemporary dance, showcasing a full year of hard work by students from Orbetello's academies.

Local dance schools

The beating heart of the event is the local talent: Costa d'Argento Danza, Centro Studi Danza Orbetello, and the Deborah Fitness Club. Each school presents its end-of-season showcase, making Laguna in Festival a shared platform for local movement and dance culture.

Orbetello and its lagoon

The setting is the unique town of Orbetello, nestled on a strip of land in the middle of the eponymous lagoon, between the Argentario and the Maremma coast. Attending performances in the historic center means combining a passion for dance with a stroll through the town's streets, overlooking the water and the sunsets that have made this corner of Tuscany famous. Laguna in Festival is also a great opportunity to discover Orbetello's summer, packed with sports and cultural events promoted by the Pro Loco Lagunare and the local administration.
