The dinosaur theme park in the heart of Orbetello
Every September, the Giardini Chiusi of Piazza Cortesini, just a short walk from the central Piazza del Plebiscito in Orbetello, transform into a lost world populated by dinosaurs. Jurassic Lagoon – New Adventures is the theme park that, edition after edition, has become one of the most recognizable family events of the Orbetello summer, in the heart of the Province of Grosseto, in Tuscany.
The setup features large animatronic reproductions of dinosaurs and prehistoric animals, arranged along an adventure trail that winds through the greenery of the historic gardens. Tyrannosaurs, velociraptors, and other creatures of the Mesozoic era move and roar, giving the little ones (and not only) the thrill of a real leap back in time.
Jurassic Lagoon was born with a clear family-oriented soul: it is not just an exhibition, but a hub of activities designed to engage children and teenagers. During the park's opening days, paleontology workshops led by experts, entertainment moments with face painting, and the famous Jurassic Car—the little train that takes visitors along the dinosaur trail—all take place.
The initiative is organized by the Pro Loco Lagunare of Orbetello together with the municipal administration, as part of the rich calendar of events that enlivens the lagoon town between summer and the beginning of autumn. The choice of the Giardini Chiusi, a cozy and protected space in the heart of the historic center, makes the experience particularly suitable for families with young children.
The setting is not a secondary detail: Orbetello stands on a thin strip of land that divides its lagoon in two, one of the most important wetlands in Tuscany and a destination for birdwatching and nature enthusiasts. Visiting Jurassic Lagoon thus becomes an opportunity to discover a village of great charm, among Spanish walls, sunsets over the lagoon, and the nearby Argentario coast.
Now in its third edition, Jurassic Lagoon has established itself as a fixed stop in the Orbetello September calendar, capable of attracting visitors from all over the Maremma. The dinosaur theme, always beloved by children, combined with the charm of the historic center illuminated in the evening hours, makes this park an event that is eagerly anticipated and repeated year after year.
The 2026 edition of Jurassic Lagoon, the third of the event, will be held in Orbetello from September 4th to 13th, 2026 in the historic Giardini Chiusi of Piazza Cortesini. The theme park, dedicated to dinosaurs and prehistoric animals and designed to engage families and children, is included in the 2026 event calendar of the town, curated by the Pro Loco Lagunare together with the Municipality of Orbetello.
Again this year, the trail will offer large animatronic reproductions, entertainment activities, and moments dedicated to the little ones, in the evocative setting of the lagoon historic center in the province of Grosseto.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco Lagunare in the weeks leading up to the event. Based on past editions, the park includes:
